"I see a witch." Ken pointed at a cloud in the sky.
"It's a clown, can't you see it?" I argued and sat up.
We were on the roof of his house, looking for shapes in the clouds. It was our favourite place to hang out, when we needed to talk or simply forget the troubles we had to deal with later. Observing the city from up high had always calmed me. People are so busy with their lives, they rarely pay attention to the beauty around them or stop to enjoy the moment they are living through. I tried to do just that, enjoy every single part of my life, no matter what was coming up my way.
"Or it might be Liza, huh?" Ken continued thoughtfully, I chuckled and laid back next to him. I was grateful he was there for me. I knew, I had a lot to be grateful for and I was. However, there weren't many moments in my life I was truly happy with myself. "Yeah, definitely." This was one of them.
"So, we're still going to Ben's party, right?" He turned to face me, expectantly.
"You know," I started, "His name is Blake"
He looked at me incredulously "Are you sure?" I laughed, nodding.
"Though, I don't know now, with all this stuff." I trailed off.
"Oh, come on Jen, I know you would go if it wasn't for Liza talking nonsense." Ken argued. "It's the perfect chance to have fun and if we're really going to England after that, then so be it!" He had a point.
"I don't get how can you accept it, so well? It should be even harder for you." I asked and got up.
"I'm not accepting it. I just don't want to overthink it, I don't find much sense in doing that" Ken was like that. He didn't let problems bother him that easily. I envied him for that.
"Where are you going?" He looked up to me.
"To choose a dress." I shruged and he followed me, satisfied.

"The blue or the black one?" I turn to Ken with the dresses in my hands. He was laying on my bed, watching Frozen for at least twentieth time.
"They are both pretty." he answered without even looking.
I am standing in front of the huge mirror in my room and I can't decide. A creamy puffy one, with two straps and a collar, or a dark blue with long laced sleeves in ivy motives, hugging my body and ending five inches above my knees.
"I know that, you're not helping"I rolled my eyes at him.
"I'm not trying to. " he grinned at me "Lol, you really look like Barbie now." Ken winked as I turn in the navy blue dress.
"Fair enough" I mumbled and went in the closet to change in my jeans.
I didn't see this night as a distraction like Ken did. I saw it more like a way to be whoever I wanted to for the last time, before I was expected to behave less like who I really was and more like people's ideas of me. In fact, this wouldn't be that hard as I wasn't sure who I was. How can I be? I was able to be anyone I wanted to be- a princess, Barbie, popular, smart, happy, just and just a girl. However, these weren't peoples notions about me.
"Are you picking Bethany up?" I asked, as I sat on the spinning chair and started whirling.
"Nah, she said she's coming with her two friends." He sent me a confused look.
"You don't even know their names, do you?" I guessed amused.
"Should I?" The puzzlement in his voice was hilarious. Bethany and Ken had been together for a month or so and it was his longest relationship. Though I could tell he was trying, for once, she was one of those popular girls, surrounded by a group of girls, never leaving her side. I knew she got Ken's attention only for her looks, but after a while she turned out not so bad and somewhat funny.
