10 {sᴘʀɪɴɢ ʟɪʟɪᴇs ᴀɴᴅ ᴀᴜᴛᴜᴍɴ sɴᴏᴡғʟᴀᴋᴇs}

It all began with a delicate lily-of-the-valley which had sprouted under a rug of fallen autumn leaves. It likely would have gone unnoticed were it not for its crystalline chimes, a most incongruous sound when wandering the winding paths of a forest bracing itself for winter.

She took note of the anomaly and decided to let it slide. Just this once.

But five months later, when she discovered a patch of autumn snowflakes among the vernal crocus and pink frost hellebores, she reckoned the fluke had not been a fluke at all, but an ill turn of the fates who perhaps had thought it amusing to bind a spring fairy with a fall one.

Or the tale of Spring fairy Koo and Autumn fairy Tae crossing seasons just to reunite with their soulmate twice a year, on equinox days — the only compromise Mother Nature was willing to agree to.

Be sure to spare a thought for them whenever you come across a bloom slightly out-of-place in the woods.
