Chasing | Mcu Fanfic

Chapter 1-

The suns beaming through my open window. I slowly open my eyes, they flicker as they adjust to the light of my room.

I sit up in my bed, leaning on my right arm as I look out the window. One of the perks of my bedroom is the view. From one of my bedroom windows, you can see the river that runs behind the Avengers Compound. The other window is 4 metres wide that runs from floor to ceiling, you can see the nearby greenery of the forest.

I get out of my bed, my bare feet touching the cold wooden floorboards. I make my way to my wardrobe where I get changed into mom jeans coloured in a light blue and a plain white tank top. I grab a dark green jumper, a pair of white plain socks and make my go my bedroom door.

As I'm about to open the door, I turn around and quickly put a silver necklace with a fire charm hanging on it. I put on two rings while I'm at it, one is gold with a green snake running around it and the other is silver with a dark blue lightning bolt in the middle of it.

I quickly wake my way to my bathroom and brush my hair. I've been all over the place this morning, forgetting everything. I did wake up feeling tired and drowsy, although there was a thunder storm last night so I didn't get much sleep anyways.

I leave my room, closing the door behind me and head down to the main living area where I can hear voices. I enter the kitchen and find Wanda and Emma making breakfast for the team like usual. Tony is sitting at the dining table, sipping a cup of coffee while watching the news on the TV.

I look over in the direction of the TV and see Jay, Ariba, Mara and Bruce sitting on the sofas, eyes glued to the TV as they watch the news. I walk over to the tap and get myself a glass of water then take a seat beside Jay.

"Has anything happened lately?" I question as I place my glass on the side table to my right.

"No not really. Just a few fires burning in California but they seem to have it under control" Jay slowly mutters to me, not looking at me once.

I look over to my left and check to see if she's alright, she's now leaning forward and seems really engaged with whatever is being spoken about on the news.
I look at the TV and just as I do camera footage from someone's home security is shown.

The time shows 1:36am. It's pitch black but I can just make a figure who seems to be 5'5 or 5'6 with a gun in their hand. The security camera gets shot, leaving the screen black. But before they cut the footage, two screams are heard, then they move on to the weather.

"What the fuck" I comment, looking at Jay then the others. "Who is that? Who is that in the footage" I demand at them, thinking they have the answers.

"I have no idea" Ariba gets off the sofa and walks to the kitchen to pick at some of Emma and Wanda's cooking.

"Piss off Ariba" I hear Emma say from a distance as she slaps her hand away.

"It's not my fault i'm hungry" she groans then leaves to her room.

Everyone seems to ignore the fact that the news literally showed footage of two people being murdered. I find it strange, but I know the case will eventually be solved.

I go to the kitchen bench and dish up some breakfast for myself, then everyone and myself joins Tony at the dining table. We tuck in and eat the amazing meal prepared by Emma and Wanda. Not once is the footage mentioned.
