The cultivation world was inhabited by two races.
Humans, the dominant race, who occupied most of the available land visible to the eyes, spreading far and beyond to anywhere they could reach. The majority of them were ordinary people: farmers, traders, artisans, those that could be found anytime, anywhere, roaming the streets of every town. The rest were known as cultivators, humans who bear spiritual power originating from a golden core inside of them - formed through years of rigorous training since a young age. They wield swords to channel their cultivation, supported by various other spiritual tools. They aged longer than ordinary people, healed faster when injured or sick, and they were the only ones capable of exterminating monsters and other malicious beings terrorizing the lives of people.
Cultivators were divided into sects, each occupying a certain region as their home. They protected the ordinary civilians within their area, and in return, the people revered them, respected them as the governor of the region. Some sects were stronger, bigger than the others - and these sects usually became the primary leader of the said region while the smaller ones became their allies and supporters.
The second, minority race whose numbers were less than half of the humans' were known as demons. Despite the smaller population, they were beings of immense power with their abilities varying from each other; some of them were able to manipulate nature, some wield powerful magical weapons, some could produce multiple apparitions of themselves to confuse their enemies, and many other kinds of unique skills that no man alive could ever finish putting them all to words. They have physical features that do not belong to normal humans: Horns, claws, wings, sharp fangs that could rip through flesh and bones with a single bite - things that would most likely scare anyone who saw them. Though as a demon matures, they would be able to hide these features and assume a human's form temporarily.
Similar to cultivators, the demons lived in groups as a clan - yet they tend to build their lair in secluded, protected places; the entrance to their home often hidden so well that ordinary humans would never be able to find. In fact, a normal human might never encounter a demon race in their entire life, but rumors were still spreading like floodwater breaking through a dam on daily basis about how terrifying the demons were - whether based on facts or mere hearsay.
And as far as history goes, there has never been a period in time that was free from conflict.
For as long as one could remember, the humans and demons never really did have a good impression of each other. The reason being for demons, it was a well-known fact that consuming the blood of cultivators would strengthen their power tremendously; the stronger said cultivator is the better. Similarly, extracting a demon's spiritual energy would empower a human's cultivation, and it can even be used to craft entirely brand new spiritual weapons and tools. There had even been cases of some ambitious cultivators attempting to enslave the demonkin to exploit their unique abilities. Each side often talked about the other in a negative light; humans using the demons' terrifying reputation to scare their children, while the demons taught their younglings what arrogant, covetous creatures the humans were.
However, what seems to be a mere case of unfavorability all of a sudden took a turn for the worse.
Missing cultivators. At first, people thought they were probably killed during dangerous night hunts or fell victim to accidents. But the number only grew more and more to the point that even the biggest sects could no longer turn a blind eye to it.
Rumors quickly spread that the demons were the ones behind these disappearances, but at the same time, the demonkin refused to admit to such claims without definitive proof. As both sides were unwilling to back down, the tension between the two races was rapidly becoming fiercer to the point that a mere accidental encounter between a human and demon nowadays could easily turn into a fight to the death.
Little did they know that the more they fought, the easier it was for the true cause of feud to hide behind their blind hostility towards each other.
And in such a world, one born from an unlikely union of the two conflicting sides encountered another brought up in the purest household of humankind.
This is the story of their tangled fate.

Note:
As the tags suggest, this story is set in an alternate universe, hence some details might be different from canon. Overall, I am taking references from both the original novel and its adaptations, but I suppose you don't have to apply too much logic and common sense to some of the things I wrote in here. xD
There are several things that I would like to emphasize before you continue reading the story. Some of these have already been noted in the tags, but if you are NOT comfortable with:
1. R-rated/Mature contents (sex scenes, killings and gruesome zombies - although not gore IMO),
2. M-Preg (Male Pregnancy),
3. Wei Wuxian being called the wife in the relationship/mother to A-Yuan,then I would suggest that you do not read this fanfic. If you still decide to continue onwards, then please proceed at your own risks.
You might notice that when the characters are addressing each other, some of those are written in English (Brother, Uncle, etc) while several others are in Chinese (A-Die, A-Niang, Jiejie, etc). My reason for writing it in this way is because during the creation process, I chose whichever sound more "natural" in my head and more familiar to the general readers (e.g. if I write Lan Wangji calling his parents Fuqin and Muqin, many may not be familiar with it - but Wei Wuxian calling Jiang Yanli "Shijie" is already very well-known). However, I do understand if you think this is inconsistent. Therefore, I would like to apologize in advance for any reading inconvenience that I may cause ahead.
Anyway, if you've read my notes until this point and are okay with everything I've mentioned above, once again, thank you for visiting my fic and I hope you will enjoy the story. :)
