— Party Gone Wrong

Brooklyn Brody

I put down my pen as the clock struck twelve, releasing a sigh of relief. The first semester exams were officially over, and I was happier than ever. Looking over to Amelia giving her limbs a huge stretch, I could tell that she felt the same way as I did. The professor collected all exams and demanded he wishes to see us fresh and prepared next week because he had a surprise for us and doesn't want us to be hungover. Yet, nobody really listened to him since we were all glad the first exam season was over and the rest wasn't our concern for a while now.

Thankfully, it took us only a few minutes to get back to our dorm room and enjoy the rest of the week since it was Thursday. Not wasting a second, I hurried into the bathroom and let the water run into the bath tub. I was dying for a warm, relaxing bath. Stopping the water from running, I tested it with my big toe.

Perfect.

After several minutes of just lying in the tub and melting the stress away, I wrapped a towel around my wet body and dried my hair with another smaller towel as I walked back into our cozy room.

"So, where are we going tonight?"

I looked at Amelia as she was curling her blonde, straight hair in front of the mirror. A gigantic smile was spread wide across her face, I could tell she was delighted. The past few weeks had been hectic, and I didn't have the time to even sit down for a cup of coffee, let alone have some fun with Amelia, Callie and Chase. I did take the time to call Aunt Liz two times a week, making sure she was doing fine.

"Well, I thought about going to a nice restaurant with Chase and Callie at first. You know, just to get to know about our new friends more," I replied. "After dinner, we're going to this one club downtown according to Callie."

"Really?" Her smile grew even wider, like a little girls, and I nodded skeptically.

Putting on some foundation, eyeliner and mascara, I was ready to go. My outfit was a simple black dress which landed above the knee, accentuated with black silk patterns at the neck and the hem of the dress. It was a dress that was suitable to be put on for any occasion. My hair was styled in beachy waves, styled by the fantastic Amelia, of course.

Amelia, on the other hand, was also wearing a short black dress, but hers was a long sleeved, which added to elegance. Just as Amelia was finishing putting on some lipstick, the cab arrived. We gave the driver the address which I had wrote on a small piece of paper a day ago. After a couple of minutes, we pulled up at the entrance of the Italian restaurant twenty minutes later, and I thanked the driver as Amelia paid him.

We stepped inside, and the restaurant's interior design had the both of our mouths gaped wide open. It was a fancy Italian diner, with its features classically decorated to give customers a comfortable dining experience. The lights were a dim, yellow shade and some of the cloth-covered tables had candles, probably reserved for couples. The ambience was a cozy one, seeming to guarantee a good, romantic time with its customers. It smelled nice as well, I inhaled deeply and noticed that they had created their own aroma by mixing flower petals with herbs and spices.

A young woman approached us with a welcoming smile, she was maybe in her late twenties. "Good evening, welcome to Delizioso Cibo, may I take your jackets?"

After giving her our jackets, we immediately spotted Chase and Callie waiting at the table next to the most beautiful view I've ever seen in New York. You could almost see the whole city, stars dotting the sky above us, blinking to us and dancing around. I instantly felt comfortable in this dimly-lit restaurant. Approaching our friends, we instantly hugged each other.
