It was dark, but I was soon blinded by headlights. I had been walking for hours trying to escape home. There was no way I was heading back. I was sixteen and tired of being hit. My mom did crack and popped pills daily. My father was a drunk that hardly was home, but when he was home he beat me because he felt it was my fault for my mom cheating and doing drugs. The car stopped and a young man came out. He looked concerned then finally said, "Are you okay?" I nodded then headed away from him. He ran after me and slammed me against the ground. "You're coming with me or I'll kill you right now." I started to cry, but I followed him to his car. After a fifteen minute ride we arrived at a cabin in the woods. He came to my side of the car and dragged me into the cabin and slammed me on a bed. "You can scream, but no one will hear you!" He said as he pinned me to the bed and ripped of my shirt. He took a knife out of his pocket and pressed it against my neck. He looked into my eyes then said, "Tell me about you and why you were walking late at night?" I stopped crying and said, "I ran away from home because I was abused." He nodded. "I'm Ricky it's short for Ricardo. I'm a serial killer, but for some reason I have no urge to kill you. You're young and innocent so I'll spare you, but I won't let you go." I started to cry, "Please let me go. I'll go straight home." Ricky laughed, "Why so you can go straight to the police and report me?" I shook my head, "I don't want to be with a killer." Ricky smiled and then got off me and said, "You'll stay with me as long as I say. He'll be coming tonight, so be quiet." Before I could protest he left and locked the room from the outside, I started to cry again. I couldn't believe I was being held hostage. I sat up on the bed and felt my chest. All I had on was a bra and it was freezing. I got up and searched the room. I searched the desk that was by the window. There was a newspaper clipping that interested me. It talked about a boy being shot in a dark alley. I wondered if Ricky had killed the boy. His name was Jamison and he was only seventeen. I felt bad for the boy. He was about the same age as me. But before I could have anymore sympathy a Ford Explorer pulled up to the cabin. A short man got out and shouted, "Ricky get out here now! You owe me money!" Ricky walked out the cabin and laughed, "Oh, Bradly it's nice to see you here, but we have more to discuss!" Bradly walked up to Ricky and punched him hard in the stomach. Ricky shook his head and grabbed Bradly by the collar, "Listen Bradly! This situation was between me and you so why the hell did you bring my nephew in it?" Bradly shook in fear, "The boss told me since you haven't paid off the debt he needed to be dead!" Ricky yelled, "Well I hope you rot in hell for your crime!" Bradly was scared, and so was I. I didn't know what Ricky was capable of. I didn't understand what this was about, but I knew it wasn't good. Ricky pulled out a gun, "Tell me his name! Who sent you to kill him?" Bradly was scared, but finally said, "David Rynall...he came to collect what's his." Ricky shook his head and held the gun tightly. Maybe it was a pistol, but I wasn't sure because how dark it was. Bradly started to beg, "Please don't kill me...I have a wife and three kids." Ricky looked at Bradly and yelled, "I don't have kids or a wife, but I did have a brother and a nephew! The mob killed them both! I'm left standing here with you! A fucking mob member himself!" Ricky put the gun to Bradly's head and shot him. I gasped and was scared Ricky would kill me next. Bradly hit the gravel with a thud. Ricky kicked him hard and said, "I hate cowards like you!" He then put the gun in the back of his jeans and came into the cabin. I jumped on the bed and hid under the covers afraid of what would happen next. Ricky unlocked the bedroom and barged in. He threw a towel and a big black shirt at me, "Go wash up in the bathroom." Ricky pointed to a door to the right down the hall. I got up and slowly walked to the bathroom. Before I could make it to the bathroom Ricky stopped me. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Look I'm sorry I kidnapped you. I've been alone for six months, so I needed someone." I sighed, "I don't understand I'm only sixteen soon to be seventeen. What in the world were you thinking?" Ricky rubbed his face with his hands and said, "It's not simple. You wouldn't understand. I'm twenty one and I had to take on a father role a year ago. I make mistakes, but I promise not to hurt you." I nodded then asked, "Why are you in a mob?" He shook his head, "I'm not in a  mob. It's a long story, but now is not the time to talk about it. I'll tell you more about me in the morning, but for now take a shower." I nodded and went into the bathroom. After I closed the door I sunk to my knees and cried. I was trapped and scared. Why wouldn't Ricky tell me about the mob? What was he hiding? I decided to wipe my tears and take a shower. As I got into the shower I thought about what my father last told me.  "You're stupid Laionna! You'll never make it in this world! You're better off dead!" He had said. I was going to cry, but I decided I shouldn't. Ricky wasn't that bad afterall or was he?
