(Jess's POV.)
I stared up into the jet black sky, littered with stars, lost in my own thoughts."What if they split? And then they never get back together?" Questions rushing through my mind like cars on a busy street.
"Jess," my sweet little brother Toby said as he entered my room "mother and father are fighting again."
"Oh no, come here." I replied.
As a tear streamed down poor Toby's face, he asked me, "Jess, are they ever gonna stop?"
"Im sorry, but i don't know." I answered.
A while later when I walked into Toby's room to put him to bed, I saw him leaning against his worn out old mattress, looking through the old family albums, crying. I rushed over to him, picked him up, and gave him the biggest hug ever. "They seemed so happy before i was born, did i do something wrong?" He said sobbing. "No no no, it's not your fault, don't think that way," I started. "Your not supposed to be thinking about things like that anyway. Come on, time for bed."
As i wondered back into my own room my mind began drifting into the emptiness that the silent room deviously offered, I plummeted myself onto my stiff, lumpy bed. Each leg creaked as I tossed and turned irritably, trying but miserbly failing to drift off into sleep. For nights i had been trying so incredibly hard to sleep, but it was no use, with the constant screaming and yelling.
Faint lights seeped through the cracks in my ripped and teared blinds. "Another day of misery and torture is here," I thought to myself. "*yawn*, time to get up."
"IF YOU HATE ME SO MUCH THEN MAYBE I'LL JUST LEAVE!" I heard mother scream as Toby darted into my room and hid in my arms. "Toby it's alright they do this all the time." I comforted him as much as I could, acting as brave as I could, even though i was shaking inside.
For the rest of the day i just sat there looking out my window, watching the hours pass by.
"Time for bed bud." I said once again to Toby. Hours had turned into days, and the lines of time were beginning to blur. Days had become shorter and nights have become longer.
