Why?
Why did they betrayed her?
Was she an easy-to-fool kind of person?
Wasn't she worthy of their kindness and love?
Doesn't she deserve to be their friend?
No.
Hah!
'Why are you asking yourself that question, huh, Hope Alicia?'
'You certainly knew that it would always have the same answer! Why are you hurting yourself?! You're really a fool! '
Sigh.
Yeah. She already knew the answer to those questions, but she kept asking it all over again. What a foolish girl she is, right?
She was back stabbed and betrayed, but here she is, still thinking about them again and again!
She should really stop thinking about them. She isn't a kid anymore, so she should toughen up already. Look, the five year old kid neighbor of hers now was stronger than her! She should be ashamed!
Upon realizing this, Hope suddenly sat up and slap herself. Twice.
That's right! She slapped herself, and not only once, but twice!
And that slap really awaken her a hundred and two percent. Hope got up from her bed then started to freshen up. It was time for her to face the outside world after a few weeks of absence.
She should start anew.
She shouldn't let them hinder her life anymore. She should not drawn herself in sadness. Moving forward should be her priority starting from now on. She must ignore their betrayal, and just treat it as a valuable lesson.
Never be fooled.
Hope looked around the kitchen and found out that there was no edible food available except for an instant noodles. She would have to make do with this. After she finished eating, she grabbed her bag and checked its contents. She made sure that all things that she needed for her studies along with her keys and money were all inside before proceeding to go to school.
...
As she walk, her mind was thinking back at what had happened a few weeks ago.
At that time, she was busy with her studies, and therefore she had no time to think about anything else. One night, she arrived at their dorm room, when her roommates stopped their talk midway– as soon as they saw her entered the door and started asking her if she had just arrived, in an awkward way. As soon as they've confirmed that she just arrived, their faces showed a relieved expression.
Of course, at that time the foolish her didn't pay much attention to their reactions. She merely thought that they were just startled by her arrival. She proceeded to do her night care activities then went straight to bed after drying her hair.
It happened a few times more before she realized that something was going on. After their exams, a classmate and friend of hers asked her to come with her to the mall. Because of the said girl's help during their review sessions, Hope agreed. And that's a really good thing, because she discovered their betrayal.
What kind of betrayal?
Her boyfriend, Klein, was hugging her best friend and kissing her. And her dearest best friend Clara seemed to be enjoying such sweet actions. And the funniest part? Their roommates were watching the two and instead of admonishing them, they were teasing the two and laughing with one another!
At that time, she wanted to go and scold all of them. But her body was frozen and Hope seemed to lose her all her strength. She wanted to confront and scold them, but she knew that she can't because she wasn't that type of person.
Upon realizing that Hope wasn't responding at her and her gaze seemed to be stucked on something, Jasmin followed the direction of her gaze. What she saw made her face dark.
No wonder why her friend looked like a frozen statue now. There are really a lot of shameless people in this world! She turned back to face Hope.
"They're not worth it Hope."
Jasmin didn't dare to ask if she was okay because she knew that no one would be okay in this kind of situation, therefore she can only say those words.
"Hmm." Hope replied to Jasmin and did a breathing exercise to calm herself.
"You're just letting them get away just like that? "
"Of course not. I just don't want to waste more energy than necessary. Like what you've said, they aren't worth it. " Hope explained as she started to walk forward.
She seemed calm. But deep down, her feelings were like a raging storm that wouldn't be calm anytime soon.
