I fell in love with a ghost

Jughead's POV

Today, on this Halloween night, my friends and I decided to have a little scare. To mark the occasion, we decided to go and visit a so-called haunted house... Two years ago, a father murdered his whole family: his wife, his son and his two daughters. People say that they see shadows in the windows, that the ghosts of the family still haunt the place... All those who wanted to do as we did, to spend a whole night there, ran away from the first hour. There would still be traces of blood on the floor and on the walls.

Hall Cooper, now languishing behind bars, shot his own family in the head at about 3:15a.m on November 13. Hall used a 336 marlin rifle, a type of shotgun. People say that the ghost of Elizabeth, the Cooper family's youngest daughter, is still lurking... It would be her ghost that people would have seen in one of the upstairs windows, probably the one in her room... Their house has been for sale for over a year, but no one dares to buy it. After all, who would want to buy a house in which there have been murders and where there are still traces of blood on the walls? Nobody! I can't wait to go, I have a feeling this Halloween is going to be great!

Seven of us are going: Archie, Veronica, Cheryl, Toni, Sweet Pea, Fangs and I are going. We're planning on staying the whole night, we won't leave until after the sun comes up. Let's just say it's all a challenge with the Bulldog soccer team too. They have given us a challenge to spend a night in, as everyone calls it, the Devil's House. If we win, they'll leave us alone, but if we lose, then they'll keep harassing us. These assholes have been harassing us since the beginning of high school, but the others easily ignore their remarks. Others, but not me... I lost my parents in a car accident a few years ago, I was the only survivor, even my little sister died... I've been living with Archie, my best friend since childhood, but I still can't get over it. My whole family died, and I came out with broken ribs, a broken arm and leg, and a concussion. Reggie Mantle and his team of athletes know about this and are taking advantage of the situation to laugh at me, and it all gets to me. I may not show it, but I'm a fragile boy, but that's understandable...

Anyway, my buddies and I have just arrived in front of the Devil's House, equipped with stuff to drink and snack, sleeping bags and flashlights. It's now midnight; we won't be able to leave the house before sunrise... I wonder if what they say is true. Is the house really haunted? If so, are the ghosts evil? Will they try to kill us? I don't know why, but I have a feeling that it's going to turn out badly... I'm not a little natured person, but I'm not comfortable spending the night in a house where four murders have been committed...

Well, I tell myself that if we succeed in the bet, if we spend the whole night in this house, the school harassment will finally end. And then, we don't mind so much, we will finally have some action and thrills on Halloween night...

"Well... Let the adventure begin," Archie said as he headed for the house.

We enter through a broken window, flashlight in hand. I can already feel the chilly air from beyond... We landed in the kitchen. The wallpaper starts to tear, the floor creaks under our steps... We finally walk to the living room, where we find a sofa, eaten by rodents.

"It's really creepy..." Veronica says gently.

"I agree. Look, there's a TV," Archie adds. "Maybe it's still on."

"Arch, they probably cut the power," I interjected.

"Well..." Toni mumbles. "The sun comes up around, uhm... about seven thirty, so we have seven and a half hours to spare."

"Truth or dare?" Cheryl smiled mischievously. "This could be fun."

Fun? No, not at all. We then set up our sleeping bags on the floor, after moving the small coffee table back in front of the TV. We settle in a circle, then sit on our sleeping bags, all the while getting out some snacks.
