The skyscrapers towered above me

The skyscrapers towered above me. The sunlight finding its way through the thin strips of open space, reflecting off of each building like a painting.

The glass created a maze of city blocks that I was extremely eager to weave my way through. The sound of cars honking and the subway rolling by underneath my feet filled me with a sense of longing and determination.

"Get the hell out of the road!"

Hi, Selena Gomez here. New to the city as of.. One week and two days ago. Can you tell? Because apparently everyone else could.

I promise you that I'm not incapable of reading a 'Do Not Walk' sign, but I was pretty much incapable of getting used to New York city itself.

I traded in sandy beaches for concrete, and palm trees for hoards of people. Yay me!

Nah, I'm just joking. I was happy as hell to be here. But just how did I get here?

"I'm moving out."

"You're what?" My mom gasped and my dad dropped his coffee cup in shock.

"I'm uh.. moving out? I want to go to New York. Stretch my feet in the Big Apple, and dip my toes in new water."

"No." My dad crossed his arms.

"But dad!"

He stood up. "End of discussion Selena Marie."

"I'm twenty four! I can't be under your roof forever you know! Can't you let me learn to establish responsibility, and allow me to have my own freedom?"

"She has a point honey." My mom chimed in.

"You're literally still paying for new tires on a car that you never should've bought me in the first place." I sighed.

"You don't know anyone up there.." My dad said sadly. "Where will you stay? How will you pay for everything? Where will you work?"

"I already spoke to Ariana, and she said she would come with me. We both want to start fresh daddy. We've been in Florida our whole lives."

"Honey, they're both capable adults.. it's not like they'll be completely across the country. They'll still be on the east coast." My mom assured my dad.
