One Summer

Chapter 1 ~ Scary Stories

The scream of a girl startled the group of friends. Scarlett Valencia leaned closer to Caden Monroe, they were both aware of how close they were but they didn't care.

Another scream caused Violet Pierce to close her eyes and shove her head into a pillow while Micheal Bexley laughed. His sister, Emmersyn Bexley, shoved him into the side of the couch and rolled her eyes.

April 17 2021

The 5 friends had chosen Friday the 13th to watch, which 3/5 people agreed with. However there was a storm outside and Caden's house was close to the beach. Scarlett and Violet thought it was a good idea at the time, but both of them were pretty nervous in this moment.

"This is so dumb." Scarlett whispers.

"Really, cause you seem scared." Caden grinned.

Scarlett smiles and laughs quietly.

"Maybe a little." She leans closer to Caden and rests her head on his shoulder.

Caden felt his body heat up, as he moved his arm around Scarlett's waist to keep her close to him.

"I still think we should have watched Black Widow." Emmi huffed, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

"You only watch that for Natasha." Mike laughs, shoving a pillow into Emmi's face.

"Shhh! Shut up!" Violet yelled, smacking her hand in front of Mike's face repeatedly.

"You shut up!" Mike jokes. He grabs the pillow he had just thrown at his twin, and threw it at Violet.

"You little-!" Violet grabs the pillow back and whacks Mike with it. This little game continues between the two of them, now both fully standing up and not friendly or playful at all.

"Truce! TRUCE I'M STILL HERE!" Emmi snaps, covering her face and her head with her hands.

"Sorry Em." Violet mumbles taking her seat.

Giving one last hit, Mike picks up the pillow and whacks Violet again.

"Okay that's it!" Violet stands up with the pillow in her hands.

All of the sudden, the TV shuts off, the dim light of the room flickered away, and groups phones shut down.

"Good going fucknut, you broke the TV!" Mike snapped, moving his hands away from his defense position.

"I broke it?!" Violet scoffed.

"Yeah, you broke it with with your face." Mike laughed, dodging the pillow Violet threw.

"Wait no the movie!" Scarlett picked up the remote, clicking the on button repeatedly. Scarlett loved scary things and horror movies, but knows damn well she would be stressing in real life if a killer was chasing her.

"Hey hey hey," Caden comes up from behind her and takes the remote, "it's okay, there's probably something wrong with the electricity box in the attic."

"Guess that means we're all getting up." Emmi groaned.

"You guys can stay down here. My attic has a lot of creepy old myths and legends written down. Scared me when I was a child." Caden gave a quiet chuckle reliving his childhood.

Caden is an only child, meaning all his life he had his parents full attention. On the other hand, Scarlett had a younger sister, and a baby sister, Violet had a younger brother and Emmi had... well Mike.

"No way we're doing it together. Plus it'll be fun." Violet stated, standing up.

"Have any flashlights?" Scarlett grinned.
