it was quiet.

it usually was during this time in lisa's home.

she had just settled down after a long day of paperwork.

signing and organizing. tracking and arresting.

part of her missed days before the academy, having fun and being a free soul. but then there were cases like this that kept the town up and night, kept her up at night. wondering who's next.

lisa had been at her coffee table trying to piece together how so much has happened without any clues.

everything right in front of her, nothing revealed.

"damn it." lisa whispered to herself.

had to have been over every file about a hundred times already. nothing connected except for the targets.

old politicians.

the case had been federal, but her good friend jennie insisted on her looking into it. lisa had yet to understand why tho. maybe it was so her and jennie could be equally stressed, because that was her thing now.

being equals to one another, even if jennie had more authority.

she was pretty sure it was illegal tho.

lisa let out a deep sigh, her frustrations reaching its limit. she closed the folders and placed them in a pile, near the table's corner. she couldn't be assed to put them back on the shelf. too much work.

lisa leaned back against the couch and took everything in. dinner still lingered, but it didn't make her hungry. her plants slightly swayed from the open window blowing in air.

her plants.

lisa chuckled to herself.

her lover had gotten her those plants as a house warming gift and made a joke about she'll always be watching. an inside joke from a movie they'd watched the night before. smiling, lisa rose from her seat and began to walk over towards the plant. the doorbell stopping her. she redirected, opened the door, and took a step back.

speak of the devil.

her lover, as beautiful as ever, stood before her.

"well, aren't you drop dead gorgeous." lisa complimented.

"aha, i sure hope so." they replied, smiling. their voice like music to lisa's ears.

eyes dragged across her attire and a looked of disappointment formed on their face.

"you forgot."

realization came, regret followed.

how could lisa forget.

"my apologies." she gave a sheepish smile, and stood aside, letting her lover in.

"you know," they started. "i actually made a bet with namjoon about you forgetting."

eyes narrowed.

"namjoon? the one with the crush on you." a bit of snark in lisa'a voice as she replied, following them into the kitchen.

her lover hummed, popped a bottle, and began pouring.

"it's fun to see you jealous."

already tired, lisa let her shoulders hang.

"yes, you've mentioned it time and time again."

"yet you still fall for it."

lisa rolled her eyes, grabbed the wine glasses, and moved towards the couch. her lover trailing behind her.
