Sarah x millie married short story

(They are in their 20s)

Sarah was at the grocery store, buying stuff for dinner while Millie was at home with Mae.

One of the "beautifuls" from high school, Lydia, walked by. Sarah recognized her.

Lydia took a glance at Sarah and turned around.

Lydia: Sarah.

Sarah: Lydia.

Lydia: what have you been up to? Still with that gothic freak?

Sarah: that "gothic freak" happens to be my wife now.

She shows Lydia her wedding ring. Lydias eyes widen.

Lydia: you're married to her?

Sarah: mhm!

Lydia: well you can't have kids so what's the point?

Sarah: there are ways for girl x girl couples to have kids. In fact I have a daughter.

Lydia stayed silent, surprised.

Sarah: now if you'll excuse me, I'm getting dinner.

Sarah tries to walk away.

Lydia grabs Sarah's grocery basket and throws it onto the floor.

Sarah: seriously?!

Lydia: you all are nothing, but freaks!

Sarah: even if we are freaks, we're freaks together. We don't care what YOU think!

Lydia: ARGH!

Lydia stomps away. Sarah could've smacked her right then and there. But she picked up her grocery basket and the food.

She sighs and continues to get dinner.

When she got home, Millie and Mae were waiting for her.

Millie: hey hon!

Sarah: hey.

Millie: is something wrong?

Sarah: I met Lydia at the grocery store. She wasn't happy with us being married and threw my grocery basket so some of the cans are a bit bent.

Millie: Lydia from that group "the beautifuls"? Will they EVER leave us alone?

Sarah: have no idea.

Mae crawls toward Millie and Millie picks her up. Mae reaches for Sarah. Sarah puts the groceries down and holds Mae.

Millie: she been wanting you.

Sarah: hehe.

Mae: mama!

Sarah: hello Mae! Hehe!

Millie: let's get dinner started.

Sarah: right! I got us chicken and corn and some other stuff.

Millie: good! I'll get it started.

Sarah: okay!

Sarah sits with Mae on the couch. She was giggling.

Sarah was happy, regardless of the hate they've received throughout their relationship. But she didn't care. She loves Millie dearly and won't let hateful words stop them.

She was happy with who she has become. Not worried about her appearance and outfit choices. She was confident and proud.

Millie helped her see that she was perfect the way she is.

Now she's married with a beautiful daughter.

She couldn't be more glad with how her life and relationship has progressed.

Life is good.
