It's been a while since Philza had initially started his expedition in order to find new places he could build at, growing bored of the same grassy planes and forests he has been crossing for days on end. Unwilling to simply stop and turn around as he had already traveled a significant distance and since he had maps of the land he wouldn't have any troubles to find back home. He landed on a nearby oak tree to eat something while overlooking the broad flat landscape which only had clusters of grass and smaller lakes to fill the otherwise pretty empty area. Almost completely at a lack of trees next to the one Philza was currently standing on. Deciding to stay for the night up in the tree to not get attacked by the mobs which showed themselves during night time.
Watching the Zombies and Skeletons from high up in the safety of the tree as the mobs didn't seem to notice his presence next to the Phantom that'd occasionally sweep down to harass him. But killing the Phantom wasn't too hard as he had his sword on him, only taking a few strikes to finally take it down. Since he didn't have a bed with himself and was too lazy to seek for any sheep he waited the night out on top of the tree. Getting up as soon as the moon started to disappear behind the horizon as the sun took its place again causing the Zombies and Skeletons to combust into flames whilst the Phantoms disappeared together with the moon and the Spiders became neutral yet again.

He smiled whilst he sore through the sky, feeling the wind wrap around his wings and the rest of his body pushing him up and keeping him in the air without the need of too much effort from his side almost as if the wind was enjoying their dance together just as much as he did. Admiring the forests and deserts he passed by. He time to time stopped at Villages he had spotted to trade with the local Villagers yet their trades turned out to be quite bad to which he swiftly left and continued on his way.
After another couple of days he reached a high mountain, landing on top of it before sitting down near the edge. Checking the maps and comparing them to the surrounding landscape as he let his legs dangle off the edge, humming to himself as he had nothing else to do in the meantime. Though whilst comparing the maps to the surrounding area something caught his eye. "That's a weird cave down there, it doesn't show up on the maps? Probably only got created recently. Maybe there are amethyst blocks or drip stones down there!" He quickly stuffed the maps back into his pockets before leaping off the edge, gently gliding down to the entrance of the cave. Tracing his fingers over the stone on one side of the wall of the broad entrance towering above him. Almost looking too symmetrical to not be man made, but he's seen a lot of similar naturally occurring cave entrances like this one so it might just be a weird coincidence.
He quickly made himself a torch so he could have some light inside of the cave before fearlessly making his way down into the dark cave. "Let's see what cool stuff we'll find down here!"

Illuminating the cave with the warm light from the torchs flame he ventured down into the cavern below ending up in a bigger hollow room after making his way out of the quite narrow hallway covered in all kinds of plants such as moss and vines growing from the ceiling and all over the bigger rocks protruding from the caverns ground. Some glowing vines barely lighting the area up as Philza fought the Zombies and Skeletons off which continuously walked out from the other narrow tunnels connected to the 'main room' they were connected to. Having to fend off a fair amount of Creepers as well while he went down the hallway to his left where the monsters kept on coming from. Leading him to a smaller dungeon with a Zombie spawner in the middle and two chests. "Would you look at that! So that's where they keep on coming from", he laughed as he destroyed the spawner and went through the chests in hope to find anything valuable yet only ending up with some bones, rotten flesh, a poisioned potato and 2 gold ingots. "Eh.. Could've been better but that's fine as well. Might find some Wolves on my way back I could try to tame", he mumbled to himself, snatching the bones out of the chest and putting them into his pocket. Making his way further down the dark and narrow hallway before ending up at a deeper hole with a quite badly improvised 'staircase' carved into the wall leading further down into the dark abyss below. He placed a torch at the beginning of the staircase to keep the cave lit up as he started his descend down into the dark. Holding the torch infront of himself to light the way up as he tried not to trip and fall the stairs down due to how poorly they were made or perhaps for how long they've been there causing them to lose their initial shape and leaving them as vaguely shaped stairs.
