A Father’s Decision

The morning sun streamed through the windows as Virendra woke up and got ready for the day. After some time, he called one of the servants and gave him an instruction.

"Go and inform everyone—I want them all in the hall this evening. I need to discuss something important."

With that, he made his way to the children’s room. As he entered, he found Juhi and Manas sitting on the bed, still not ready for school. They were startled to see him at the door and immediately stood up.

"Baba..?!" Juhi whispered with shock, finding him standing at the door with a frown between his eyebrows.

"Why aren’t you two ready yet? Don’t you have school today?" Virendra asked them.

Manas lowered his head and mumbled softly.

"I don’t want to go..."

"What are you mumbling about, Manas?" Virendra raised an eyebrow at him.

Juhi quickly stepped in.

"No, Baba! It’s nothing like that. He’s just being silly… He keeps talking to himself all the time."

"Hmm… but tell me, why aren’t you both dressed for school?" Virendra asked, in a bit of a stern voice.

Juhi hesitated, fumbling for words.

"Umm… well… Baba, actually…"

Virendra noticed their hesitation. He understood that something was wrong and that they didn't want to go to school.

"Alright, no problem. If you don’t want to go today, then don’t go." Virendra said softly.

Juhi's eyes widened in shock. Not only had their father agreed, but he had spoken so gently—without anger, without shouting.

"Now… kids, would you both like to go out with me?" Virendra asked, them with a bit of hesitation

Juhi and Manas exchanged surprise glances. Virendra noticed their hesitation.

"If you don’t want to, that’s fine too." He turned to leave.

"No, Baba! It’s not like that…" Juhi said quickly.

"Yes, Baba! We’ll come with you!" Manas said, eagerly.

"Good. Then have your breakfast first, and we’ll leave after that." Virendra smiled at them

As he walked out of the room, he paused when he heard their excited voices.

"Manas! We’re going out with Baba today! Yay! After so long, we’ll finally get to spend time with him!" Juhi said, cheerfully.

"Yes, Didi! We’ll have so much fun! But… we forgot to ask Baba where we’re going." Manas grinned at her.

Virendra smiled to himself, feeling a warmth in his heart at their happiness. He made his way to the breakfast table, where everyone was present.
