It was a quiet night in Lyra's bedroom when a snow white Owl came flying through her open window. She was expecting it, as today was her eleventh birthday, and she was beaming with joy as she read her acceptance letter to Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She could hear her twin squealing with excitement from the other room, indicating that they got their letter, too, but Lyra was quite upset that her twin would be joining her to Hogwarts. Of course, she knew they would, they're pureblood twins, but the thought of them being forced to be together for an entire school year made her gag.

About a month's time has passed and now it was time for Lyra and her family to go to Diagon Alley. She was ecstatic, and could not wait. She had heard from others in her family that Diagon Alley was an amazing place, and she wanted to find out if what they said was true. She wanted to save the most important and most exciting part of Diagon Alley, the wand shop, for last. Meaning she had to go to the boring shops, like getting her school books, first. Normally, Lyra loves books shops, but she likes picking out her own books, not books from lists. After the boring shops, she got to go to the pet shop to get her very own....Toad. Her mother wanted her to get an Owl, but Lyra insisted on a Toad. She looked for a while, and saw the perfect one. It was a tiny Toad, with fire colored scales and a long tail.

"Firecracker.." Lyra whispered. "That's a perfect name for him. Oh Mother, can I get this one?"

"Are you quite sure you want a...Toad...Lyra?" Her mother asked.

"Yes, Mother. He's perfect. He's so cute...and scary! I can scare people with him!" Lyra exclaimed.

"Okay." Her mother said after a moment of silence. "Excuse me, miss, my daughter would like this one!"

"Amazing choice! That one is a personal favorite of mine. Sad to see him go, but I'm sure you'll be an amazing owner!" The shopkeeper said. "Normally, Toads are quite inexpensive, but this size and species is quite rare. He's a fire toad, you see. That will be eighteen galleons,"

"Here you go," Her mother said, unfazed by the amount of money he was. She handed the shopkeeper the galleons and left with Lyra.

"Thank you so much, Mother!" Lyra exclaimed.

"Your welcome, Lyra." Her mother replied.

Next thing was to get her Hogwarts robes fitted for her. Sadly, this was the one part of the trip that she had to do with her twin. While they were standing to get their clothes fitted, a young boy who looked about their age walked in. His hair was messy, and he was wearing rags, but he looked kind.

"Hi, I'm Lyra!" Lyra greeted. .

"Hi." He said nervously.

"So is this year going to be your first year at Hogwarts?" She asked

"Yes, is it going to be yours?" He asked.

"Yes, actually. Don't worry, I heard it's an amazing place! It's like home for most students!" Lyra said, trying to comfort the boy, who clearly looked nervous about going to Hogwarts.

"Good to know," He said nervously. Lyra's twin didn't seem to notice the boy, or if he did he was pretending not to notice him. Knowing her twin, it was probably the latter. She was about to say something else but then the strange boy was ushered away. After her robes were finished, she finally got to the part she had been waiting for. The wand shop! As her and her mother walked through the door, an old man greeted them.

"Why hello there! What's your name?" The old man, who Lyra recognized as Ollivander, asked.

"Lyra." She answered.

"Lyra, what a fine name. I remember selling wands to your parents. I think I have the perfect one for you!" Ollivander exclaimed. He went to the back and when he came back he was holding a wand.
