The battle ended with Alain's loss, however he was commended by Siebold and his connection between him and Charizard. "Hey Alain! Wait up!" Mairin runs after us and trips, "You seriously need to be more careful." I help her up, "I'll become the best and Mega Evolve!" She shouts, "People don't Mega Evolve, Pokémon do." He stares at her with a monotone voice, I stifle a laugh, "Course I know that, but I'm gonna find myself a stone! And I'll do that! Just wait and see!" She grins, "Do whatever you want to do." He puts his hands in his pockets and continues to walk, "So cold. So, so cold." I lean down and look up at him, "Shut it." He puts his hand over my mouth, I grin and lick his palm, "You're disgusting." He wipes his hand, "You're adorable." I smirk and hold my hands behind my head, "What an uncanny team we've got here." I look at the two of them.
We got off a plane and found ourselves in the Hoenn region, "Come on out." I let Arcanine out, he stretches his legs out and shakes his head, "Why do you always let Arcanine out of his Pokéball?" Mairin asks, "Silly here throws tantrums when he's in his Pokéball too long, don't you, don't you." I grab the skin around his snout and shake it. We walked up a tall mountain, the fog was thick and the air was thin, Mairin was her usual self, bounding around, Alain takes a device out of his pocket and clicks a button, "Woah." I lean on his shoulders and stare at the blue hologram, "It should be around here." He says and looks at me, we didn't realise but our faces were centimetres away, the two of us blush but was quickly interrupted by Mairin's scream, "Mairin." We saw her fallen down the side of the hill and stuck in a tree, I burst out laughing, "Alain! Nat! Help. I'm stuck." She flails her arms around, "I got wedged in and can't move at all." She tries to get out, "There you go, looks like you're all right." Someone helps her out, the two of us slide down, "Thank you so very much, I'm Mairin and I come from the Kalos region, nice to meet you." She says, "Kalos?! You must've come a very long when then Mairin, nice to meet you too I'm-" I look at the boy, "Steven?!" I saw him, "Nat!" The two of us hug, "It's been gosh, how long now." I look at him, "Too long." He smiles, "Do you two know each other?" Alain walks over, "We met up a while back, travelled for a while together too." I smile, "This is Alain, my new travelling buddy." I jump back to him and grab his arm, I saw Alain's fist tightening, "You have a Mega Stone as well." He saw the pin on his blazer, "Yes, you too." Steven nods, "Do you want to have a battle?" He asks, "I may not look it but I'm a busy man." Steven says, "Oh it won't take long, I'm going to beat every Mega Evolved Pokémon and stand at the summit." Alain holds his wrist up, "If you're a trainer, when you lock eyes it's a signal to start a battle. Right?" He says, "Right. Yes." Steven sighs, "You'd better stand back." Alain turns to Mairin, she nods and runs behind the tree, he looks at me, "Don't you worry yourself, I'm clever enough to know not to fight Steven." I walk away compliantly and sit down, watching the two boys.
"Charizard, let's go." Alain throws Charizard out, "I see Charizard hey? Here's my partner. Metagross." He throws his Pokéball up, his white Metagross dropped down, "Looks like Metagross Mega Evolves." Alain saw the Mega Stone, "Woah that Metagross is a different colour, just like your Arcanine." Mairin looks at me, "But don't Steel types have a disadvantage against Fire types?" Mairin looks at me, "Just sit and watch, you're in for a treat." I smile at her, "Now, respond to my heart, Key Stone, Mega Evolution. Mega Evolve!" Alain touches his stone, Charizard glowed and Mega Evolved, "Use Flamethrower!" Charizard blows out blue fire, "Metagross! Use Psychic!" Steven orders and diverts the flames, blasting the fog out of the sky, "Sparkling stone, give our bond form. Metagross, Mega Evolve!" Steven Mega Evolves Metagross, "Wow! So cool!" Mairin holds her hat, "Now do you see." I look at her, her eyes widen, "Now use Flash Cannon!" He says, Charizard blocks it but it was a hard hit, "You see, Flash Cannon's ability has also decreased your Charizard's endurance." Steven grins, "Then we'll have to take you down that much quicker." Alain bunches up his fist, "Dragon Claw! Go!" Charizard flies up and slashes down, "Alright! Meteor Mash!" Just as Steven was about to fire his attack there was a large ball of fire coming towards us, "Ahh!" Mairin screams, I clutch her tight to me and Arcanine jumps in front of us, devouring the flame, "Oh thank god you have Flash Fire." I wipe my forehead and pat his head, Arcanine happily licks his lips, a Pyroar jumped forward, "A Pyroar?!" Steven looks at it, "Could it be?" Alain looks around, "What's happening?" I walk out, "Do you two mind if I interrupt your battle?" We look up and saw a man with flaming red hair, "It's my boss." Alain looks at him, "Who's he?" Mairin asks, I shrug, the two Pokémon revert back to their usual evolution forms as the man pets his Pyroar's head, "I please ask to excuse my subordinate's rudeness. Champion." He walks to Steven, "Champion?" Alain asks, "This man here happens to be the Hoenn region's Pokémon League Champion. His name is Steven." He points at Steven, "Not to be rude but who are you?" Steven asks, "It came off as rude." I snicker behind my hand as I come up behind him, "Forgive me, I forgot to introduce myself." He tightens his tie, "I am Lysander and I'm the owner of Lysander Labs located in the Kalos region. It was I who told him to learn more about Mega Evolution," He looks at Alain, "Hey, excuse me. Are you the guy who calls up Alain sometimes?" Mairin walks over to him, "Mairin!" Alain calls her, "Fascinating, and who is she?" He looks at Alain, "Mairin's my name! And this is Kalos' most awesome Pokémon Chespi!" She points at him, "Chespi!" He waves, "See I'm Alain's trustworthy and hardworking travelling buddy!" She smiles, "Well I didn't realise you had a little sidekick Alain." Lysander bends over to her height, I burst out laughing, "No, no, you got it all wrong! I'm not Alain's sidekick. I wanna learn now to Mega Evolve!" Her eyes sparkled, "I already told you, you don't Mega Evolve, your Pokémon does." Alain holds his head, I kept laughing, "I-I knew that!" She turns to him, "And you young miss?" Lysander looks at me, I wipe a tear as it forms from laughing so hard, "Nice to meet you, I'm Nat." I smile and hold my hand out, his eyes widen, "Well haven't you come from a long way away." He looks at my wrist, "Not as far as you have." I smile, "Village of Dragons, a supposed mythical place but beautiful so I've heard." He says, I take my glove off and show the Dragon tattoo everyone in our village has, Alain and Mairin's eyes widen, "It is indeed." I put my glove back on and fix the cuff over my tattoo, "Mairin, I've got to discuss a few things so go wait over there." Alain points, she huffs and storms off, muttering how we're treating her like a kid, "M-Mairin!" She slides back down the hill and got stuck, "So much drama to deal with." Alain slides down with me and we help her get unstuck, "Hang on!" I try to pull her out, the two of us slide her out of the tree, "Hey Alain, may I ask who's that Lysander guy?" I look up at him chatting with Steven, "Someone very dear to me." He says, "More than me?" I smirk at him, "Everyone is more dear to me than you, you big idiot," He smiles, "Hey! You big meanie, is that how you treat your future girlfriend!" I punch him over and over again, he chuckles, "No time for dating, no time for relationships." He grabs the back of my collar as he pulls me after him.
We reached Steven's makeshift lab, he and Lysander had two halves of a wooden tableau that connected together. "We're up to high." Mairin looks around, we reached two pillars, it needed two keystones to activate, "Alain, that side." Steven looks at the second pillar, he nods and the two of them touch it at the same time, they lit up, creating a light staircase that leads up to the mountain, "Wow! So cool!" Mairin looks at Chespi, "We weren't expecting that were we." I lean into my hip, "If you hadn't come I would have been searching endlessly. I'm grateful." Steve looks at Lysander, "No, I'm grateful." Lysander nods, "And Alain, the path would have never shown its existence without you. Thank you very much." Steven looks at him, the three of them start to walk up leaving Alain and I behind them, "See, the Champion is thanking you." I grin and kiss his cheek as I walk past him, I snicker when I turn around and saw his burning face which he hid in his palm.
