One day, in the comfort of his family's home, was a puppy named Rover. Rover LOVED to play. It was his favorite word in his vocabulary (food, treats, ball, snuggles, park, and play).

Rover was on the couch looking out the window. He was so excited! It was bright and sunny and all the squirrels were out. Rover LOVED squirrels. He could chase them all day and then would lick their fur when he caught up.

He went to the front door, where his leash and harness hung. He then got on his hind legs and daintily grabbed the leash and harness in his mouth.

"Yummy," he thought, "This tastes like the time I knocked the peanut butter jar on me."

He went to his big sissy Lucy. She loved Rover. Rover was proud to think that out of all the puppies, Lucy chose him. He nudged the door open with his nose and looked at her in her chair. She was at her desk, she looked down at a piece of paper. Rover jumped onto her lap,

"No Rover" she said, "I have to finish my homework."

Rover was sad. He got off her lap and went into the hallway.

He then went to his mama, Amy. Amy was a "Real Estate Agent" as she called it. Whatever that means. He went into her little home office. She was talking into the magical box held up to her ear. Rover could hear someone in the box talking to Amy. Amy replied,

"I can sell you this house. It has a big backyard which will be good for your dog."

"A new doggy friend?"

Rover thought. He went to Amy and laid on her feet. He looked up at her and whined.

"Hm-Hm-Hm". "What's that noise?" Rover heard the magic box say.

Amy put the box on her desk and looked at Rover. Rover wagged his tail.

"No Rover." she said, "I'm on an important call."

Rover's tail stopped wagging and he walked out the door.

Next, he went into the living room. His brother Tommy and daddy were building something out of tiny, colorful bricks.

"Hi Rover!" Tommy said.

Rover wagged his tail. Uh-oh. A stack of bricks fell over onto the table.

"Oops," Rover thought, "my tail is clumsy. Sorry".

Tommy looked kinda sad. Rover forgot about how clumsy his tail is. He is reminded of when he has the urge to chase it around and around.

"Not now Rover. We can play later." his daddy said as he picked up the bricks.

Rover was sad. With his leash still in his mouth he went to the couch near the window. He dropped the leash in front of him and watched the birds as they flew by, rustling the trees. His eyes grew droopy. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Later Lucy woke Rover up. Tommy stood next to her.

"Come on Rover, let's go!" they said.

Amy came in and put his leash on and they went out to the car. She opened the car door. Daddy was already there. Rover gave a confused look.

They drove in the car, a few minutes away. They got out and what a wonderful sight...

"The park!!!," Rover said, with excitement.

They played at the park and joyfully played. Rover felt so lucky to have them as a family. Rover was a happy puppy.
