Nico's POV

It was all his fault, he said he would protect her! She's gone, Bianca's gone... I couldn't get these thoughts out of my head as I stumbled through Camp Half Blood's forest, just trying to escape it all.

I had heard that Percy and the others had come back from the quest, so I ran to the big house. I knocked on the door and came huffing into the parlour, my cheeks bright red from the cold. I was smiling, but I looked around anxiously. "Hey! Where's... Where's my sister?"

There was dead silence. Percy stared at Chiron, then got up from his chair and turned to me. "Hey Nico." he said. "Let's take a walk, okay? We need to talk."

I couldn't understand, I just stood there in silence as Percy kept talking, explaining how Bianca had sacrificed herself for the others to save the quest. He was only making things worse. "She wanted you to have this." he said and brought out a little figurine - the only figurine in the Mythomagic set I didn't have, Hades. I held it in my palm and stared at it. We were standing in the dining pavilion, just where we'd last spoken before Percy went on the quest. The wind was bitterly cold, even with the camp's magical weather protection. Snow fell lightly against the marble steps. I figured outside the camp borders there must be a blizzard happening, but I didn't care, all I could feel was a sharp pain in my heart.

"You promised you would protect her," I said. Percy looked very hurt at that, but he deserved it, it should have been him. "Nico," he said. "I tried. But Bianca gave herself up to save the rest of us. I told her not to. But she -"

I cut him off, glaring at him and trying not to burst into tears. "You promised!" I closed my fist around the Mythomagic statue. "I shouldn't have trusted you." My voice broke. "You lied to me. My nightmares were right!" That's when Percy had the audacity to look confused.

"Wait. What nightmares?" he said.

I threw the statue to the ground where it clattered across the icy marble. "I hate you!"

"She might be alive," Percy began desperately. "I don't know for sure -"

Once again I cut him off, "She's dead." I closed my eyes concentrating. My whole body trembled with rage at Percy and grief over Bianca's death. "I should've known it earlier. She's in the Fields of Asphodel, standing before the judges right now, being evaluated. I can feel it."

"What do you mean you can feel it?" Before I could answer, Percy turned away, suddenly aware. Then I saw them, four skeleton warriors - Percy had probably led them to me! I gasped and they advanced. I'd never get to help on time, how were they even inside the camp's border? "You're trying to kill me!" I screamed. "You brought these... these things?"

"No! I mean yes, they followed me, but no! Nico, run. They can't be destroyed."

I was so scared, so confused. "No!" I yelled, pressing my hands to my ears. Percy was slashing, dodging, jabbing, but they just kept advancing. It was only a matter of seconds before the zombies overpowered him.

"No!" I shouted louder, even if I hated Percy, I'm not sure I wanted him to die, not when he was the only thing between the skeletons and I. "GO AWAY" The ground rumbled beneath Percy and the skeletons froze. Percy rolled out of the way just as a crack opened at the feet of the four warriors. The ground ripped apart like a snapping mouth. Flames erupted from the fissure, and the earth swallowed the skeletons in one loud CRUNCH! There was silence. Apart from a long scar in the marble floor of the pavilion there was no evidence the skeletons were there in the first place. I was horrified, too shocked to speak. Percy looked at me, awestruck. "How did you -"

"Go away!" I yelled. "I hate you! I wish you were dead!" I know that wasn't entirely true but it hurt Percy and that was good enough for me. I turned and ran into the woods. Percy tried to follow but slipped on the Mythomagic statue. I would have to retrieve it somehow, it meant more to me than anyone knew, but for now I had to run.

Images of that skeleton falling through the crack in the pavilion kept flashing through my eyes. I blinked to rid myself of those images but all I achieved was an avalanche of tears tumbling out of them. I don't know how long I was running, only that I had left the safety of the camp's border long ago. I shouldn't have shown such weakness, but I just couldn't get Bianca's death out of my head. That was when I met Minos...

This was a long chapter and the others will probably be shorter, but I hope you enjoyed it! If you didn't guess the italics are a flashback from the end of Titan's Curse, but in Nico's POV, as the original is in Percy's POV. Let me know what you thought of it in the comments below :)
