okay okay okay so if you don't want manga spoilers, stop reading because this contains MAJOR spoilers for the manga of My Hero Academia.
First off, let's take a look at Mineta as a character:
He stands at about 3'7" (109.22cm), making him around the same height as an average 4 year old.
As of what we know, Mineta used his Pop-Off quirk to bind the villain bots to walls or blocking their cannons during the UA entrance exam.
People like to hate on his quirk but I think that hatred is biased with the personality of this character. His quirk can actually be very useful, although I think the nature is quite exaggerated. If he could just generate those balls from his hands instead of it literally being his hair, it could be more reliable and have less drawbacks.
His hero costume is just absolutely ridiculous, I won't even make any comments about that.
Now the most obvious part of Mineta which makes him so unlikeable ; his perverted personality. There is not a single female in the My Hero Academia universe that even slightly likes the company of this guy. And although there are a couple of guys, it's few to none.
Taking note of the male vs female opinion on Mineta, I now move on to the actual (and unfortunately canon) bisexuality of Mineta Minoru:
So this is the panel that has taken over Twitter.
To begin with, people believe it was a mistranslation issue and that's not actually what he said but many Japanese speaking people have stated that it's the same in the original version. But that doesn't mean there's no mistranslation at all. In a few other languages, Mineta says "...when you were scared and sweating buckets...I admired you..." rather than the "I fell for you..." that we have in the English version. I partially so believe it is related to translation but not that specific part.
And here's what my question is; why would someone fall in love with another whilst that person is "scared and sweating buckets"? And I have a not at all confirmed answer; he isn't in love with Midoriya.
Explanation:So, as the main character, it would make sense for Izuku to be likeable, which he is. There isn't a single person in class 1A (apart from Bakugou) that doesn't admire Deku's bravery. (Although Bakugou doesn't admire him, he knows how strong he is.)
And in my opinion, Mineta was someone that had a mindset of "oh, everyone likes Midoriya so much" and Mineta definitely had iM nOT LiKE oThEr bOyS energy. So at first, he wasn't as...how do you say it? Obsessed with Midoriya. And I know not everyone is obsessed with him but they have all made comments about his perseverance and just general strength. But, looking back through the manga and anime, Mineta doesn't make such comments, he mostly always talks about girls or the fact that he's scared or something stupid like that.
But now, during this moment where Mineta is using 'Mineta Beads: Ten Fold', he finally understand all the hype over Midoriya and how "amazing" he is. (I put amazing in "" because I don't personally think Deku is the best main character in existence but I'm talking about the character's opinions.)
And besides, Mineta has never showed any interest in men or any other gender besides girls/women. I think he would've made a comment towards the same sex at some point. If he really was bisexual, I think it would've been hinted throughout the story and not just all of a sudden.
I'm conclusion; I hate Mineta and refuse to believe that this is the only lgbt+ representation we have in class1A.
