Here are a few helpful words to understand you in werewolf stories.

Shifting

Wolves tend to shift at around the age 14-17 in these stories, but mainly 16.
They do not shift into half human half animal creatures.
They shift into real wolves.
When they shift, they will be able to communicate with their wolves.
Their wildness is like their conscience.
Guiding them through life and all their situations.
When you first shift, however, it is an enormous amount of pain.
Your bones are cracking and your body is filled with heat.
But over time, and after a lot of shifting, the pain will subside and you will shift much quicker than before.
To clear things up, wolves are the other half of the human.
So they have separate minds but work in sync to live.

Moon Goddess

The Moon Goddess is basically their God.
They have temples built for her in their territories.
But mainly she is just the God that puts two werewolves together to be mates.
She is very important to all wolves.

Rogues

Rogues are basically the wolves that have been outcast or left their packs.
If a wolf commits a crime, the Alpha will banish them from the pack.
If the wolf believes they could do better on their own then they will leave and cut all their ties to their old pack.
Sometimes, when a wolf does something sooo bad the Alpha can exile them.
This means that no other pack can take them in after going rogue.
Not many Alphas like rouges.
Alphas kill rogues on the spot.
They could be taken in by another, but that can be rare.
Unless the rogue is someone who is the pack's mate.

Heat

This is when the female mate starts to give off a certain scent that tells her mates that... well umm you know
*fake cough*
/Searching for proper words/
that she's ready to mate.
The time periods of heat and when that happens is every two months and it is five days longer.
So basically that female mate will feel like she's on fire and only the touch of her mate can help calm the fires.
The fires only dull down until they have mated, or had
*Fake cough*
s.e.x.

Mind Link

This is when people of the same pack can talk to each other with their minds.
With mates however, the mid link is stronger. They can hear each other's thoughts and feel each other's feelings through the mind link.

Pack House

This is the giant mansion they always talk about in the books.
This is where most of the people in a pack live. (hence the name pack house) Some might have the family's live in separate homes but in most the pack house is there to keep everyone close together like a giant family, like a pack.

Pup

A pup is basically a baby werewolf.
Most characters in a book might use it as a way to tease or make fun of another character, like calling him a baby.

Wolfsbane

This may or may not be mentioned in some elements, but wolfsbane is either an herb or liquid (depending on our imagination) that can weaken a werewolf.
It is used by villains to keep the wolf and human part of the werewolf separated during things like a kidnapping.
It is usually injected and stops all werewolf abilities such as strength and mind linking.
It also can be put on the chains or rope that is used to keep the werewolf locked up.
