cali shakes as the hard, cold, tiled floor of the bathroom stings her legs. the tears drop off her face and stain her light shirt with dots. her mascara runs down her cheeks. she gets more frustrated as she should've used the waterproof one. there's a knock on the door.
"cal? you in there? hurry up! i found the cards. cali? are you ok? hello?" his voice sounds worried. he doesn't mean it. at least he's made an effort to pretend to care. the knocking gets louder. his voice gets angrier.
"cal! this isn't funny. get out."
she doesn't budge. only cries harder. she's mastered the art of silently crying."CALI!! ARE YOU FREAKING DEAD? GET OUT OF THE DAMN BATHROOM!" he shouts. the door shakes with every slam.
"okay, okay, chill! i'm coming," she yells back.
she cleans her face up, unlocks the door, and steps out.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" he shouts. his face is tinted bright red. his eyebrows are furrowed and the uno! cards are all over the floor. his hair is a bit ruffled too.
"...i lost my voice?" she mutters, looking down at the floor.
his breathing gets heavier and his face turns redder.
"were you crying?" he asks, looking away towards the window.
"no, no of course not! why would you think that? i never cry," she laughs nervously.
he sighs and asks again, "be honest. you were crying weren't you? i won't make fun of you, i promise, please don't get upset."
she stays silent for a few seconds."yeah, i was, but it's stupid. don't worry about it. how about we pl-"
"nothing you'd cry about would be stupid, cali."
"but it was. please don't worry about it,"
"i already am. why were you crying? was it
me? did i do something to upset you?""no, no, no, of course not! like i said, it's really silly."
he rolls his eyes and crosses his arms.
"do you want to do this the hard way?"
"what? what's the hard way?"
"you wanna find out?"
"no," she furrows her eyebrows, confused about where this was going.
"too bad," he smiled smugly.
he picks her up and throws her over his back, and takes her to the porch outside.
now, this porch was unlike all porches. the fence had completely broken off in the last storms. she had an extreme fear of heights. he set her on the edge, so her feet would dangle down. he still held on to her from around her waist, so she wouldn't fall."PUT ME DOWN! YOU'RE INSANE! STOP IT! PUT ME DOWN NOW OR I'M TELLING YOUR MOTHER! PUT ME DOWN!"
"not until you tell me! also, my mom isn't here! hahahaha!"
"WHAT IF I FALL? PUT ME DOOOOWN! ADRIAN PUT ME DOWN! ADRIAN PLEASE!"
"oh calm down! you're not going to fall, i won't let go. anyways, why were you, um, crying in my bathroom?"
"i was not!"
"you were though, just tell me why!"
"why do you even care?"
"because i can, d-"
"awwww!"
"not awww! did i make you sad?"
"no, of course not!"
"if i guess right, will you tell me?"
she thought about it for a few seconds, and then the corners of her mouth curved into a smile.
"if you get me food and put me down i'll tell you."
"really?" he rolls his eyes, smiling at her smile."unfortunately, let's go," she sighs.
"hehehehehe okayy." he laughs.

"olive gardens, please," adrian tells the taxi driver.
"we're getting pastaaa?!" she squeals.
"yes, and you're paying."
"okay!"
"what? no, idiot, i'll pay."
"no, i'm paying. do we have to do this every single time?"
"i. am. going. to. pay."
"no, i have more than enough for dessert."
"i have enough for a family of 8." he crosses his arms.
"woah, look at that traffic," she points, distracted from the conversation of money.
"oh wow," he frowns.
the taxi driver sees this too, and oddly starts speeding up towards the traffic.
"hey, hey, watch out!" she yells at the taxi driver.
adrian quickly uses his arm as a form of a seatbelt for cali, as he yells,
"STOP THE CAR!"
the car kept moving, and in half a second, everything went black.
