Chapter 3:: Love

Author's POV: 

"This is so hard!" You looked down as he chuckled before showing you how to write the letters. It was pretty much fun because of the person teaching you.

"So... This means... This!" You said as he nodded while you clapped excitedly.
"And this..?" He asked pointing at the letter 'L' as you looked at it confused.

"I'll show you." He said before using the stone in his hand as he traced it on the ground before making a word, 'Love'
You stared at it confused as he replied, "This means love." He asked as you looked at him and then the word he wrote.
"Here. Like this." He said before holding your hand helping you trace the word 'Love' while you just stared at his side profile not knowing what to do.
He looked at you confused while you coughed looking away.

"Ah! It's going to be sunset soon. I have to go home now. Mother ordered me to come back home before sunset or this time she might kill me!" You said laughing awkwardly as you left with the letter.

-At Night-

"I don't know what this letter means. But I'll still keep it with me." You said before placing the letter under your pillow.

-10 days later-

Days passed, weeks passed. Every day, you'd go to the forest to meet Taehyung or he'd come to the back of your house at night. It became a routine.
Him and you, You and him.

You felt so happy. As if you were living your dreams. But little did you know, someone except for you and Taehyung knew everything about the dream life you both were in.
"Hello, rose cheeks!" Taehyung greeted you as you chuckled.
"Hello, TaeTae!" You said as he laughed. You both became so close in just a few days, you had nicknames for each other.
"Did your mother scold you yesterday?" He asked as you shook your head.
"She's been acting a bit strange lately. She says kind of unusual words like, "Don't let your childishness get you in trouble."  You said as Taehyung nodded before ruffling your hair.

"You know your hair looks prettier than you!" He said as you scoffed.
"Sure! Sure!" You said as you both joked around.
"Are you hungry?" He asked as you smiled before nodding. He chuckled before climbing up the tree and picking out two guavas before checking them out well.
"Here." He gave you one as you thanked him.

"It's so good!!" You said munching on it even before washing it as he sighed.
"You won't ever change!" He said as you chuckled cutely making him smile.
Suddenly, he pinched your cheeks making you freeze as a tint of crimson shade crept up to your cheeks. But his hands felt so cold.

"Cute." He mumbled as you looked away shyly.

-5 days later-

Days kept passing and you and Taehyung kept growing closer and closer. Although your mother behaved strangely at times, you suspected if she knew anything about you and Taehyung. But later shrugged it off.

At this time, some more families came to your neighbourhood and you made good friends. Yuri, Yeji, Yerin and Yejin. You loved spending time with them but of course, you didn't enjoy with them as much as you did with Taehyung. 
"I think you are forgetting me nowadays." Taehyung said as you chuckled shaking your head.
"No! Why would I? And wait... are you perhaps... sad??!" You asked as he just looked away while you kept making jokes and teasing him.

"Oh and... it's very chilly nowadays. So I took this blanket with me. Use this if you feel cold since you never even tell me where you sleep.." You said looking at him worriedly as he stared at the blanket.
"Did you bring this for me?" He asked as you nodded. He looked at it with soft eyes. 
"Thank you." He said as you smiled. 

"Ohho. What are friends for?" You asked smiling as he chuckled. 

-Meanwhile at Hades-

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?" The King shouted as Albert just nodded.
"I sent that brat to Earth to repent and he made a friend? A LOVER? From where does he GET SO MANY BUTTERFLIES IN HIS COLD STOMACH?" The King shouted.
"Your Majesty, I am not sure if I am in the position to say this. But, Prince Kim Taehyung is to be the next Vampire King and his unusual friendly behaviour towards a mere human girl might be a distraction for him." Albert said as the King nodded.
"Keep a good eye on that brat and bring him in when I say!" The Vampire King ordered.

-Next day-

"What are you doing?" You heard a voice, the most melodious and pleasant voice in your life to be exact. You looked back to see Taehyung smiling while his hands behind his back gained some of your curiosity. A lot of your curiosity to be precise.

"Nothing... Just sitting. What is behind you?" You asked as he chuckled.
"Your eyes are keener than I expected." He said as you giggled.
"They are!" You said joking as he came forward before handing you some lilacs making you look at them lovingly.

They were the prettiest of all the lilacs you had ever seen in your life.

"Woah... Where did you find such pretty lilacs?" You asked as he replied, "Somewhere." You smiled at him with your sparkling eyes as he admired your happy face. He gave it to you as you took it smiling.
"Thank you." You said as he smiled.

"This is the prettiest gift I've ever got. No gift could be prettier than this." You said admiring the flowers as he looked at you saying, "I know right..." You looked at him thinking he was talking about the flowers as you giggled.

"Do you want to go to the river?" He asked as you nodded.
"But there's sunlight today." You said as he stopped looking down.
"You will get an infection if you go there." You said remembering how he always avoided sunlight and didn't go near it cause he said it would cause infection.
"I am sorry.." He said as you looked at him confused.
"It's okay! It's not your fault that you can't go under sunlight. You don't want to have rashes everywhere!" You said smiling as he looked at you right into your eyes.

You saw how his eyes carried different emotions. But you didn't know what they meant.

"It's okay. Let's go somewhere else." You said as he looked down before nodding. You chuckled walking fast as he followed you while mumbling, "I wish I could tell you the truth."

---Time skip

"Where were you?" Your mother asked as you looked at her gulping.
"Outside. Playing with my friends." You said as she looked at you coldly.
"You are a woman. You are bound to do chores, learn how to serve your husband, stay at home and be mannered but all you do is play outside. Do you think you can be a good woman like that?" She asked as you looked down.
"I am... 17." You said as she scoffed.
"Girls get married at that age and you don't even know how to cook. I think I have given you enough freedom. You shall stop these all soon. All the neighbourhood is talking about how grown-up you are!" She said as your eyes widened.

"B-but mother-" You were talking as she cut you off.
"What you are doing is going to give you no good. You'll not have a good life. It'll be full of tragedy and miseries if you continue these. Listen to me and do what I say." She said as you gulped the lump in your throat.

"I don't want to." You sternly said going to your room while your mother glared at your back and you heard her say, "Women like you will do nothing but disgrace the human nation."
You sat on the bed before looking down sadly.
"What's wrong with her suddenly?" You asked yourself.

"She never forced me into stuff the other girls were forced into. I always had freedom but now suddenly, she wants to snatch it away from me." You took a breath before letting your tears fall.
You felt very humiliated as you remembered the last sentence she said.

'Women like you will do nothing but disgrace the human nation.'

You looked down sobbing.
"She has been acting strange lately but today, she behaved too badly." You said to yourself.
"I want to go out and play... with him." You mumbled.

You were crying because of the words your mother said. You were bound to hear these in your life considering the era you lived in, but still, it hurt.
