{Gojo Satoru POV}
[Three days later]
It has been a few days since the rescue, and to the child's dismay, a few police had to question her. She barely knew anything of herself. The doctors say she doesn't have amnesia and no head injuries were detected. The police concluded that her parents must have abandoned her. Ever since the conclusion was made, the nurses and doctors started to baby her.
I too have been visiting her every day after work and each time I would bring a small treat for her. After all hospital food sucks, so it can be seen as a gift of bravery for eating such foods. The child would burst into joy once she saw me. She was very cute. Her looks remind me of myself when I was younger, a happier me.
I was sitting down beside her, I was feeding her some Dango. It was hard not to poke her puffed-up cheeks as she chewed on them. Then I heard a knock on the door, I looked back, it was Ijichi.
"Gojo-san the police have identified her. Shall I read out the details?" I heard Ijichi say.
"Please do," I told him.
"They have found out about me?" She said, her eyes widened in curiosity.
"Yes, so listen closely," I pointed out smiling at her. She returned a big toothy smile, I could feel light coming shining off her. She is simply too bright and adorable!
"Takahashi Y/n, uh...8 years old, born on the 25 of December 2002..." He read. My eyes widened, she was so tiny for her age. Ijichi also seemed bothered by it.
"Wah, I'm older than I thought." She said in surprise.
"Yeah, that took us all off guard." I sighed.
"What does that mean?" She asked tilting her head.
"It means uhh, it means we didn't expect it," I replied I forgot that she learned Japanese by observation and listening to the citizens on the streets, it was quite impressive when she told me about it. She's a very smart child, once she starts school I'm pretty sure she will pick up things quickly.
"Ijichi what about her parents," I asked, getting back to her files.
He was hesitant but finally said,
"Her father died of cancer and her mother is missing," He gave me a sad look and nodded, I took it as a sign that there was a high possibility she was dead.
"Oh...So I don't have parents," Oops I forgot she was here-
"Oh..Y/n, I am sorry you had to hear about your parents, in this way..." I said.
"It's ok, now I know that I was left behind, so I don't need to get my hopes up!" She smiled, here's another thing she's good at doing though she needs a bit of practice many people wouldn't notice that fake smile.
I noticed Ijichi put the files by the nightstand, he then bowed and left. He must have sensed the mood.
I slowly wrapped my arms around her tiny figure. She slowly wrapped her tiny arms around me and cried. This time she cried properly, like a proper child. With me, she didn't need to hide anymore.
[A week later]
Y/n recovered quickly and is able to be discharged from the hospital. The police and I have already questioned her relatives. No one was willing to take care of her. Not one. There faces held no pity neither remorse for the child, that lived in the streets for most of her life.
