Chapter 7 - New Years Proposal

"Care to explain?" Jerome asked, looking back and forth between Jordan and I.

"Did you not hear the screaming?" I asked.

"No, I went to get a god damn drink."

"Well, we were yelling at each other, Jerome." I rolled my eyes and then looked out at whoever was left. Kaila was with Ryan, who was slurring through a sentence. I walked out of the closet, glancing at the clock. 11:30, so we had a long half an hour until the ball dropped. Great.

Everybody had settled. I was sitting next to Jerome, who had done the liberty of turning on the TV for everybody to watch.

Jerome whispered something to Mitch, who got up and left the room. Soon enough, everybody had left but Jerome and I. The ball was about to drop, where the hell were they going?

It was 11:58, and nobody had returned. I was so freaked out. Where did they all go?

11:59. I was watching the TV before Jerome helped me up.

"What are you doing?" 60 seconds.

"Shut up, Lottie." He got down on one knee. 50 seconds. "Charlotte Marie Dyke, I have known you since we were born. I will love you for the rest of my life. Will you.." He pulled a ring out. 30 seconds. My hand flung over my mouth. "marry me?"

And there was a flash, there was confetti. There was people.

"Yes, Jerome! Yes!" I cried out.

"3, 2, 1!" The ball had dropped, and I kissed Jerome so hard I really thought we were going to fall over. My makeup was running, my hands were clammy, and my eyes were full of tears.

"Look at the picture I got!" Danielle said, holding up the camera. I slung my arm around Jerome and he put his around my waist. The picture of him and I was beautiful. She captured it at just the right moment, when the confetti fell and Jerome was still on one knee.

"Thank you guys, thank you." I said, looking at everybody. "You all know I hate big secrets but this one, this one I am thankful to everyone for keeping." My smile was so wide it hurt my cheeks. I was.. engaged. Try that for a day. Engaged.

"C'mon guys, let's go to–" Jerome started.

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything," Tom said, busting in. I broke away from Jerome and went to hug him.

"You came from England for New Years?" I asked.

"No, I came for your engagement." he laughed.

"You knew too?" I laughed.

"Everybody knew, even all of our fans knew. That's why Jerome took out the router for a few days." I wiped my face.

"I went to McDonalds for wifi because Jerome disabled the router. What a great fiancée."

"Alright, let's go to bed." I said, when the door flung open. It was McKenna, Diego, Lydia, Aela, Jenna, Cecilia, and Lucy. The girls besides Lydia and McKenna were from my yoga class, and McKenna, Lydia, and Diego were a total surprise.

"Congrats!" Lydia said, hugging me tightly.

"You're all here too?" I asked, welcoming them all in."We were just going to bed."

"Well let's go to bed then! We'll talk about your proposal in the morning." She said. Everybody trudged up the stairs, until I realized we had like no room.

"We could all quadruple up, I guess?" Everyone nodded and Jerome, Mitch, Danielle and I went up the steps and into my room. "You guys can have the bed."

"Thanks," Mitch said. Jerome shut the door behind us all.

Taking two blankets and two pillows for the floor, Jerome and I settled down. The light shining through the window made my diamond sparkle.

Almost 10 minutes later, I think, Danielle asks if we're still awake.

"Yeah, yeah." I say.

"Mitch and I.. you guys are the only souls that will know this."

"What is it?" I asked.

"We're expecting. And we would like to stay down here so we can have the baby being born with my parents to watch."

"Oh my god," I sat up. "I'm so happy for you guys! Jerome, isn't this amazing?! Two bits of awesome information just tonight?"

"Yeah," Jerome mumbled into the pillow. "Can we talk more tomorrow? Proposing was exhausting."

"Sorry we kinda kept you up. Goodnight guys."

"Goodnight, Danielle." Jerome and I said, peacefully falling asleep.
