My head spun around as I walked up the steps, wondering why my slip was chosen out of thousands of slips in the glass container. But, before I knew it, I felt myself being pushed back. When I realize what is going on, my sister, Katniss, steps up in front of me.

“Prim! I volunteer!” Katniss gasps. “ I volunteer as tribute!” I was devastated to hear that Katniss wanted to volunteer. Especially when no one has done it before. Before Katniss made a move up the stairs, I grabbed on to her as tight as I could. I would never think that Katniss would do something like this.

“NO, KATNISS!! NO!! You CAN’T go!!” I screamed hysterically. Katniss was yelling at me to let go of her, trying to shake me off. But, I saw the tears swell up in her eyes to show that she is scared too.

“ Prim, let go of me!” Katniss said. Suddenly I felt myself being pulled off her body by her friend Gale. I strangle in his arms as he carries me to my mother. When my mom takes me home, I run to the window of my bedroom and cry until night.

“Katniss.” I whispered into the air, devastated that I might not see my sister again. I was silent the whole day thanks to the traumatic experience. I didn’t dare say a word in front of anybody about what was going on in my head.
