and before she knew it, there was a stranger in her bookshop spilling his coffee all over the book he was checking out.❝shit,❞ he said under his breath. ❝shit, i'm sorry,❞ he then added louder. he looked around trying to see if someone had seen him. sadly, for his luck, the employee of the bookstore did.
❝it's okay,❞ she said as she opened the small door on the bookstore counter and got out of it. ❝i'll take care of it.❞
the man smiled apologetically and nodded, a bit unsure. ❝i'm sorry, once again. i was just really immersed in brian evenson's literature, that's why...❞
the audacity, she thought. either way, she smiled and nodded. ❝it's okay. if you'd actually let go of the book and let me clean it, it'd be nice.❞
the male's eyes widened slightly and he let go of the book. in the process, he somehow tripped with the chair he had behind him and fell on his butt, the book flying across the bookstore, pages stained with coffee landing on the floor.
❝i'm doomed,❞ he said with a groan. the girl glared at him, obviously pissed. ❝i mean, it could be worse, right?❞ he slightly smiled trying to soften the chaos.
❝it could,❞ she simply said with a shrug. ❝but this looks pretty rough to me, doesn't it?❞ she smiled again, a glint of anger in her eyes.
❝how much was the book again?❞ he gulped and smiled once again. the girl scoffed but then answered, ❝it'll be sixteen dollars and eighty-five cents.❞
❝holy fuck,❞ her friend laughed. ❝dude,❞ he continued as he chewed his rice. ❝hyun yoon, that's kinda funny.❞
❝it really was not funny at all, mark,❞ she sighed. ❝first of all, he didn't fucking read the poster outside of the shop that said beverages of any kind were prohibited. and second of all, it took so long for him to actually ask how much the book was! he should have asked as soon as he stained it all with his dumb shit-ass coffee!❞ she scoffed.
❝well,❞ mark continued. ❝to be fair, he paid and didn't run away as the last customer did.❞
❝i guess,❞ hyun yoon sighed once again. ❝in any case, i hope he doesn't come back to the bookshop.❞
❝he seems like a fun person to be around, to be honest,❞ the boy continued as he cleaned the corner of his lips with the napkin.
❝dude, he's just clumsy as fuck,❞ she retorted. mark shrugged his shoulders and spooned a bit more of his tuna rice with an egg that he surely didn't cook — 'cause if not the kitchen would be on fire. ❝clumsy people are funny, though. look at you!❞
❝look at me?❞ she said as she grabbed a pillow from the sofa and throwing it to his flatmate.
❝ouch! what was that for?❞ mark yelped. she laughed and got up from the floor. ❝i'm gonna shower. you better put criminal minds tonight or i'll sue you.❞
❝i'd like to see you try!❞ she heard mark yelling in the background.
