One day passed, then two, then three without me getting any calls from any new numbers.

Every time I received a phone call my stomach dropped, thinking it would be her.
And every time it wasn't, I was disappointed.
Over and over.

On the fourth day I was well on my way to giving up and just accepting that she had probably decided that seeing a K-pop idol was too complicated for her.
And truthfully, I couldn't blame her.
Living this life was fun and a dream come true, but I didn't have much space or time for personal relationships.

It seemed like the only people that I saw were the other members, staff, managers, producers, directors, and interviewers.

I had been hoping for the change of having her in my life.
But I guess not.

I walked into the large dance practice room where the other boys were, stretching and prepping for today's practice.

Soobin stood by the sound system, scrolling on his phone. The other boys were in the middle of the floor, horsing around and laughing.

I smiled and walked over to join them.
At least I could count on them as a distraction.

"We were just talking about you, Yeunnie," Beomgyu said.

"Oh?" My eyebrows raised in amusement.

"Have you heard from that girl yet?" The unwelcome question came from Kai, ever the bold one.

There goes my distraction.

I scowled as the rest of them burst into laughter.

"I can't believe you asked a fan out and got rejected," Taehyun let out between breathless gasps of hysterical giggles.

"Shouldn't it be the other way around?" Kai added, clearly enjoying the subject of making fun of my misfortune.

"Yah," Soobin said as he walked over and lightly ruffled Kai and Taehyun's hair. "Don't make fun of a man in pain," he smiled ruefully at me.

I rolled my eyes. "Can we just get to practicing?"

We practiced hard for the next two hours before we took a small break.
By this time we were all sweating and in need of a drink.

I left the practice room to grab some water and check my phone. As I scrolled through my socials, a notification for a phone call popped down into my view.

It wasn't a number I recognized.

My heart skipped ten beats and I watched it ring about four times before I snapped back to my senses and hit the green button.

"Hello?" My voice was shakier than I liked.

"I thought you'd never answer, loverboy," her tone was light and flirtatious without even an introduction.

I knew who this was.

"And I thought you'd never call, pretty girl," my voice was now raspy with desire at hearing her voice again.
She hummed into the phone, the sound entering my ear and making me shudder slightly.

"You busy?" The question brought me back to reality, to the fact that the other members were waiting back in the practice room to continue.

"At the moment, yeah," I admitted wistfully.
"But, I wanna talk to you later. I wanna hear your voice again. Can I call later?"

She paused, as if thinking it over.

Please please say yes.

"I'd be okay with that. Call me at 7." She gave the command easily, without asking if that time worked for me.
I didn't care. I'd make it work for her.

Later that day after dance practice , some singing lessons , and a studio session with one of our producers , I finally went back to my room at the dorm, exhausted. It was about 5:30 pm and I honestly just wanted to lay down.

I sat on my bed and checked my phone.

I had some time to shut my eyes for a one hour nap before waking up to freshen myself up and call Y/n.

2 and a half hours later, I shot upright in my bed and almost broke my neck trying to find my phone and check the time.

"Aishhh..." I muttered in exasperation seeing the clock strike 8 pm. I was an hour late.

I opened my phone and quickly found the number she had called me on earlier and pressed the call button.

It rung five times before I realized she probably figured I wasn't worth it if I couldn't even keep a simple promise to call at a certain time.

My shoulders sagged on the 8th ring, I was getting ready to hang up after the 9th and then she answered on the 10th.

"Hello?" She spoke perfect Korean again, and her silky voice was music to my ears.

I let out a long breath that I didn't know I was holding. "Hey, I am so so sorry-

"Yeonjun? It's okay. You said you were busy today." The genuine understanding in her voice caught me off guard.

"I - I mean yeah, I know. But you said call at 7 and I completely fell asleep."

"What did you do today?"

I paused, shook that she didn't even seem to acknowledge that I was calling her late and just wanted to hear about my day.

I told her about my day's activities and asked about hers. She told me about her first day at her new job, and how she loved helping people recover from their injuries. Her voice lit up when she spoke about her job and I could tell it was her passion.
We spoke about several things, going from topic to topic. It was surprisingly easy to speak with her.
I could listen to her all night long.

Before I realized that I was daydreaming about her beautiful face, she interrupted my thoughts, "You still there?"

"Yeah, I'm sorry I'm listening. I just got lost in your voice."

There was silence on the line.

"Are YOU still there?" I chuckled at her silence.

She gave a soft chuckle. "Your voice sounds so deep when you're tired. You should sleep."

As she said this, I checked the time and realized we had been on the phone for almost four hours. I did have an early morning meeting with the members and managers in to discuss our schedule for the rest of the month.

I sighed, not really wanting to hang up.

"Can I call you in the morning?" The question surprised me, but there was nothing more that I wanted.

"Of course," I smiled widely, already thinking about the morning.

"Okay," I could hear the smile in her own voice.

"Okay," I said, still not wanting to be the one to hang up.

"Go to sleep, loverboy."
That name leaving her lips made me crazy. I looked down at my shorts and almost groaned aloud as I saw the growing tent.

"You first, pretty girl."

We got off the phone and I had a new problem to take care of before bed.

I relieved myself, thinking of her soft voice, her full lips, and her flirtatious way of speaking to me.

Afterwards, I felt tired enough to fade back into slumber, eager to wake and talk to her again.
