Izuku regretted this. He regretted a lot but this definitely took the number one spot. His death, suicide to be more specific. He had let Kacchan's words get to him and it had been his biggest mistake. He had let his worst tormentor's words lead him to the roof of his crappy middle school.
Izuku had no peace in life and now in death he has no peace either. He had always expected it to be like a long dreamless sleep. But that was not the truth, not for him. He has never felt more awake than he has now. Everything felt raw, though he assumed thats because he was in his most bare form.
He no longer has a living body, so he can't breath or get hungry or get tired. But that makes everything worse. He's reminded of his nonexistence every time he inhales and feels no air in his lungs. Or every time the sun comes up and it does nothing to combat his constant chill.
The soul can't move either. And that's one thing he'd taken for granted in his life. He could float and wander around but he could not leave this side of the school building where he had died. He remembered screaming in frustration when he realized he'd be stuck, unseen in an ignored corner of the school.
(Because even in death fate had to fuck him over. )
The only upside was that Izuku's phone had been left here too. It made him happy, even if he knew he probably wouldn't be able to use it for its correct function. It brought him comfort. It was even better when he noticed that the phone reacted to his touch. When his hand phased through it the device would light up and ring as if it were being called. He had laughed in joy as he thought of how to use it.
Maybe he could draw someones attention! So with that thought he let the phone ring. He made it ring all day hoping that it would draw someones attention. But it didn't. It must have been too faint.
Izuku still let it ring. He was surprised when the phone didn't die, but he suspected there was a ghost related reason. The seasons pass, then over again. Izuku doesn't remember everyday but he remembers the loneliness and desperation he felt as he leaned against the cracked building wall.
(He felt his hope trickling away as no one turned the corner and the weeds grew over his cellphone.)
The spirit heard as students entered and exited the school. As teacher talked during smoke breaks. But they never heard his phone.
Untill they did.
Kichi Rui let the door close behind them, ignoring the way dust flew off the old thing. If they looked to hard it would make their fur bristle in disgust.
They walked down the empty halls of Aldera and relished in the silence that after hours brought them. They had sighned up to be a TA for this, walking home without the buzz of the students. The second year also enjoyed the art class they helped, but that didn't matter.
Its when they pass through the side exit of the building when they heard it, the soft sound of a ringtone. It sounded faint to even their sharp feline hearing. Their ears flicked to the side and their eyes soon followed, looking for the source.
Who on earth was dumb enough to leave their phone outside?
The teens tail flicked nervously as they followed the sound. The noise stopped and started as they walked. It led them around the building to the back. The weeds had become prominent here, ignored or forgotton.
