It was my first day at my new school in California. I didn't know what to expect, being I moved from New York. I wasn't sure how different things would be. I didn't know anybody yet. I passed a karate dojo on my way to school. And an Applebees. But besides that, I barely knew California.
As I walked the halls of my new school, my mind was different places. I had my schedule in my hand, my eyes glancing back and forth from the hallways and the schedule. As I turned to look behind me, I felt myself collide with somebody.
"Shit," I thought to myself. I haven't been in this school for 10 minutes and I'm already messing up.
"I'm so sorry." I looked ahead at a dark-haired boy, who had a black backpack hung over his shoulder. I noticed his books had fallen on the ground, as well as my schedule.
"Oh, no you're fine." He bent down to grab his books and grabbed my schedule while he was at it. He looked at it. "You new?"
"Yep, just moved here from New York."
He looked at me with what seemed like a quick shimmer in his eye.
"New York. Cool. I've always wanted to visit the big city." He gave me back my schedule. "I was hoping for a class together. But, no, nothing. I'm Miguel."
"I'm Y/N."
"Nice to meet you, Y/N. Say, uh, would you like to eat lunch with me today?"
"Yeah, sure." I smiled softly at him.
He was very attractive.
"Great, well then I'll see you then." He smiled and made his way past me to go to his class.
