Veronica Hart was what her last name said, a sweetheart. Everyone she knew would talk about how beautiful she was, inside and out. Her heart was pure and untouched by the evil of the world. Most people were jealous of her, they couldn't understand how someone could be so perfect. She didn't even flash a glare or frown when her father had agreed to a marriage on her behalf.

Veronica was young to be married, but she had no choice. Her father was the CEO of the biggest tech company in the country and had many alliances with outside people. In this instance, the alliance was the Russian Mafia. He supplied them with all updated technology, digital appliances, guns, and even cars they used on their attacks. In return, they kept his family safe.

Both families enjoyed this alliance, so when the Russians gave birth to their baby boy, Adrian, the Harts agreed to try for a girl. When the children were eighteen, they would marry and be joined together properly. The plan was delayed when the second family wasn't able to have a girl for thirteen years after the firstborn. When she finally came into the world, they named her Veronica, meaning she who brings victory.

Veronica wasn't completely opposed to the marriage. She always tried to be optimistic and figured having someone to take care of her wasn't the worst way to live. She also knew it would make her parents happy and that was enough for her. Veronica would learn to love Adrian, he wasn't a stranger and in time they would grow closer.

The couple had already gone on five dates and learned new information about each other. Veronica noticed how quiet Adrian was but didn't speak about it. She took on most of the conversation during their dates, wanting him to be comfortable with her. In due time he would open up and maybe then their relationship would blossom into something more.

Adrian didn't have any bad thoughts about the wedding, either. He was okay with the girl he was marrying and thought it was time to settle down. He remembered when she was born, he was thirteen and it was the first time traveling to America. His parents told him they were going to meet their friend's baby. At the time, he didn't know she would eventually be his wife.

He remembers thinking how interesting the baby was. Adrian had never held something so small and soft. Veronica's big innocent eyes stared up at him like he had the answers to the world's greatest problems. As they grew up, the pair didn't see much of each other. The Hart family would go to Russia and visit for a couple of weeks in the summer. Adrian would sometimes accompany his father on business trips to America.

The only problem that lied was their age gap. When Veronica was old enough to remember Adrian coming with his father, he was working with him and didn't have time to spend with her. During the summer visits, Adrian would be out on late nights with his friends or girlfriends and Veronica would be playing in the house with the other children.

No matter what, Adrian knew his main priority was to keep her safe when they were together. Both had a lot of enemies and his father always told him if it came to the decision, put her life before his own.

Adrian had become the type to sleep around. Even though he didn't know who it was, he was aware of his marriage arrangements. His parents reminded him every time he got too close to a girl. He was thirty-one when he found out his wife's name and wasn't as surprised as he should have been. Veronica was the closest girl to his family that wasn't related and his parents adored her.

It was when she turned twenty that Adrian purposefully stayed quiet and restrained from Veronica, scared of what he might do. Even though they weren't "in love" knowing the precious girl was his caused dirty thoughts he couldn't suppress. He imagined making love to her passionately on their wedding night. Even though he was a playboy, Adrian knew she didn't deserve the rough fuck he gave to other girls.
