Your fingers twirled short locks of your boyfriend's black hair - his eyes weren't on you, rather, they glued to the motorcycle race broadcasting on the television screen. The two of you sat on a couch in the small living room; a faded kotatsu was placed between the couch and tv with a hot pot placed on top, bubbling a savory aroma.
"Y/n, I told you not to do that while I'm watching MotoGP," He grumbled, moving his head slightly out of your reach. You pout from his inattention, crossing your arms across your chest. He invited you over for Friday night dinner with his family with his younger brother and younger half sister; you didn't realize a race would be on tonight.
"Shinichiro, you promised to spend time with us!" You heard Emma's voice as she walked into the living room and plopped herself down near the kotatsu to check on the hot pot, swirling the broth with a ladle she brought from the kitchen.
"And I'm sure your girlfriend wants to spend time with you too!" She added.
You and Shinichiro started dating a month ago. Before this, the two of you knew each other from high school but were a few grades apart... Actually, there was quite an age difference between the two of you. Shinichiro had already graduated from high school while you were still 16. Your friend groups collided and merged at some point during high school- some deciding to follow Shinichiro for his charisma and eventually, created the Black Dragon gang.
"It's okay, Emma," You smiled, "Shinichiro needs to do his research on which bikes are best!"
Shinichiro smiles as he leans back into the couch, swinging a lazy arm around your shoulder. "See Emma? She's knows."
His half-sister rolls her eyes. You chuckle at the two siblings then wondered where Shinichiro's brother was. Almost by thought, a golden haired boy saunters into the room - short yet messy locks fall across his eyes as he yawns.
"Good morning," he yawns. Still in his pajamas, his shoulders hunched over as he drags himself onto the couch.
"What do you mean morning!? It's evening Mikey-" Emma stammers, causing the boy to glare.
You giggle at the boy. "Good morning to you too, Manjiro." The boy looks up at you through his wavy bangs; he has similar features of Shinichiro but has more of a soft appearance. His eyes lock onto yours as he heard you say his name- then looks away and walks into the kitchen.
"Hi Y/n." You hear him mutter. You were a little more than a year older than Manjiro and attended the same school. The two of you knew each other through friends from school but only interacted when you came over after school to visit Shinichiro at the bike shop.
The MotoGP race finally ended and the four of you sat down on each side of the Kotatsu table. The hot pot was filled to the brim with vegetables, pairing well with the hot rice and pickled sides you had brought over.
"The Yamaha team is good this year," Shinichiro mumbled while chewing, "But I'd like to see more from Suzuki and Ducati."
"Ducati's look cool," Manjiro chimed in, "They're red like my Street Hawk!"
Emma sweatdropped, "That beat up moped? You wish," Manjiro shot her a glare across the table.
Shinichiro laughed, "Not all Ducati's are red, Mikey."
You watched as the three siblings bantered during dinner. You enjoyed these moments with Shinichiro and his family since you didn't have one of your own. You lived with your grandmother since your parents went missing when you were small; maybe that's why you gravitated towards Shinichiro: the two of you had similar family situations. Sitting at the table with them enjoying a meal made you feel like this was what a family felt like.
