A gentle breeze danced between the strands of his hair and grazed his cheeks briskly. His body felt weightless as if it were suspended in mid-air. Every nerve ending throughout his body vibrated, raw energy consuming the fibers of his flesh with a welcoming embrace.
When Seonghwa opened his eyes again he was no longer face down in the middle of his living room. Instead, when he opened his eyes, he came face to face with something he had never encountered before. A being of pure light hovered mere centimeters away from his face, and soon he realized that he wasn't really anywhere. Seonghwa knew that wherever he was, it was no longer on the mortal plane. He was floating freely in an abyss of emptiness with nothing but this ethereal divine before him.
This being had the face of a beautiful young woman, but she appeared to have no body as if she were made of the purest energy to exist. The expression on her face was plain, with no true emotion to her eyes at all. Her glow was immense amidst the endless darkness, Seonghwa could feel his own power diminished when before this being.
"The one who wields the stars will rise from the ashes and bring upon the reckoning of Inception..."
The black-haired male furrowed his brows with slight confusion. None of the words made sense to him yet they rang clearly against his eardrums. Something within him felt as if he were lit ablaze by a raging inferno, crawling all the way from his toes to the virgin flesh of his lips. It was painful, almost unbearable, but somehow it felt like he had absorbed the very power of the universe through the pores of his skin, and deep into the strands of muscle.
Who was this being? What did she... or "it..." want from him? What was she trying to tell him? Seonghwa couldn't even begin to understand what was unfolding before him.
"Who are you..?" Seonghwa's voice echoed within the empty void.
The deity did not say anything. It was then that as a gentle smile curled the corners of her lips, the first real emotion that she had displayed. Seonghwa watched as light gathered into the perfect form of an arm, the woman reaching for his face with one hand. The woman rested her fingers below his jawline, her thumb resting in the curve of his bottom lip.
"When blood has soaked the sands of fate, your destiny of doom will surely await..."
A violent flash of light totally blinded Seonghwa, almost feeling his eyeballs fry in their sockets from the sheer intensity.
With a loud gasp, the black-haired male suddenly awoke from his apparent slumber. It took him a moment to fully gather where he was, as he didn't remember a thing that happened before falling unconscious. His limbs felt heavy upon the floor as if gravity was pinning him to the floor, and his head throbbed to the rhythm of his heartbeat.
When Seonghwa's vision finally came back to him, he was relieved to see the black ball of fur sitting in front of him.
"Sulin... My good friend." He whispered with a subtle smile curling the corners of his lips.
"A long day I would guess? Do tell." The cat's smooth voice rang clear, a soft purr accompanying his speech.
Seonghwa let out a heavy sigh as he lifted his hands at his sides and pushed himself up off of the ground. When he brought himself to his knees, he grunted softly before standing on his feet.
"I had an incident... Nothing major, just lost my temper at the supermarket." Seonghwa's tone sounded almost shameful.
Sulin watched his master make his way toward his bedroom and tilted his head with curiosity. With a flamboyant pounce, the black cat leaped after his master, soon walking at his side and gazing up at his tall stature.
"An incident, Master?"
"Please, don't ask. I have to get ready for work..." Seonghwa said dismissively before throwing off the khaki trench coat from his shoulders.
Sulin jumped gracefully onto Seonghwa's bed and perched comfortably on the edge, his eyes never leaving his master.
"By losing your temper, you mean you used your ability in public?" The cat's tone sounded unimpressed.
Ripping off his shirt, Seonghwa threw it to the ground and sighed exasperatedly. He turned to face Sulin shaking his head.
"Sulin, please. You know I would nev-"
"How dare you lie to me?" The cat was quick to cut him off, a low growling sound coming from his throat.
"It was an accident, okay? Shit!" Seonghwa exclaimed with a sharp shrug. "They didn't know me and they didn't even see me leave. No one even knew I did anything. I'm not stupid, Sulin, I made sure I wasn't noticed."
The piercing eyes of his cat bore into his soul for a long while before they seemed to relax.
"If you have any more outbursts, sir, you know we'll have to-"
"Have to relocate because it's dangerous if humans know what I can do. I'm aware. I won't fuck up like last time, I swear."
Seonghwa proceeded to turn around and open the top drawer of his dresser. He flipped through his shirts one by one, pulling out a black long sleeve shirt and a pair of matching cargo pants.
"Well... If you've got that under control," Sulin paused as he stood up slowly. "Then maybe you can finally clean out my litter box before I leave a present in your slippers while you sleep."
A look of shock came over Seonghwa's face, whipped his head around to catch a glimpse of Sulin's flicking tail as he exited the room.
"Maybe you should stop shitting like a cow! It would solve all of our problems!" He fired back and chuckled softly.
"Pesky cat..."
