Shattered

Little Beast

It was dawn when I returned to the cabin. The presence of Trish just vanished in an instant. Out of exhaustion, I laid down on the couch. But the glimpse of what I just saw with Blaire getting killed kept bothering me. I stared at the ceiling for the whole time until morning had come. I moved to the balcony and there I sat, gaped towards the vast forest. Then Rosie came handing out a cup of coffee and greeted good morning. She sat beside me, then I handed over the note that Blaire left.

Elyn: "I saw that near the fireplace when I moved to the couch last night."

Rosie: "So she's gone huh, what a pity. Let's make a call to make sure she got home safely."

Elyn: "There's no reception here remember. But she got home safe for sure."

Rosie: "She doesn't deserve this pain, there are still a lot of guys out there. She doesn't need to desperately beg for that man who dumped her."

Elyn: "We can't blame her, she loves him and they've been together for a long time."

Rosie: "Sorry honey but I don't support that idea. Why push yourself to someone that wants you gone? You'll just end up hurting yourself. If I were her, I would rather choose to be alone than to be with someone who doesn't value or love me. And even though the relationship had last for years it wouldn't guarantee that it would last. Because if it ain't for you then it would still eventually end."

Elyn: "Well let's just support her, maybe she is trying to make things work again for the both of them so that she won't have any regrets. At least she tried fixing it and she loved and become honest with her feelings."

Rosie: "I hope she's fine and soon she would realize things before it destroys her."

Rosie stared at me with a grin, then continue to sip on her coffee and asked me to help her out in making breakfast. While making pancakes, Jona and Reina step out of their room. They seemed to be exhausted. Carah who's at the couch reading suspiciously stared at them.

Carah: "Looks like you had fun last night huh." (Everyone laughed while staring at them)

Rosie: "Stop it you silly, can't you see Reina, she's blushing already."

Elyn: "Well, breakfast is ready so dig in!"

While eating, Rosie showed the note that Blaire left. Silence shrouded the room. Reina looks troubled about Blaire and wanted to check out if she got home safely but Jona persuaded her that Blaire is fine. Then he whirled the topic about the cave nearby. He plans on exploring it and asked us if we want to come. At first, Carah hesitated because of the risks that might happen but everybody beg for her to come. After the meal, we packed up for the cave exploration.

The track was not that long and we finally arrived at the mouth of the cave. From there we could hear the bats screeching and flapping their wings. The place was enormous. Carah is having second thoughts about entering so I decided to stay at the entrance with her. Then Jona, Reina, and Rosie lighted up their flashlights and started to venture inside. Moments had passed, Carah finally had the guts to go inside. So we slowly walked to the wet and rugged terrain while holding her hand. It was all pitch black, and all we could hear are the bats and water dropping from the stalagmites.
Instantly, someone took control of my body, and from that moment I knew that Carah's time had come.

Jane was the one on the wheel, she asked Carah to go ahead because her legs are tired and she need to rest for a moment. But it was just a trick! Jane pulled something from the bag. It was a glove with four sharp metal claws. Then she stealthy got behind Carah and grabbed her flashlight. She turned it off and toss it at the side. Carah thought that it was just a prank and even laughed about the situation. But she instantly got anxious and started to get mad. Out of her notice, Jane was behind her and scratched her back with the glove. Carah shrieked in shock and pain, she dropped to the ground. Her scream echoed all over the place. The silence of the burrow was now filled with agonizing cries and call for help and the ground was painted red.
