Alpha - The Alpha(s) of the pack are the leaders. They make all the decisions for the pack. A pack of wolves will normally have two Alphas and normally they are mates. Alphas get the first pick of the prey and the best pieces. The Alpha must be informed on anything and everything going on - and if a wolf disobeys, they will face consequences. A thing I made up was when a Beta becomes an Alpha, they will receive a name, the name moon at the end of their name. Ex: Duskmoon, Russetmoon.
Beta - The Beta is the second in command to become the Alpha. I made this up: once a Beta dies or retires, the Lead Warrior or Lead Hunter becomes the new Beta. Betas take the Alpha's place when the Alpha is away from the Pack.
Healer - The Healer uses herbs and poultices to heal the wolves in a Pack. They have almost complete authority over their patients and can tell them what to do medically.
Lead Warrior - The Lead Warrior takes their orders directly from the Alpha. They are in charge of managing every Warrior wolf. Alphas will order the Lead Warrior to attack and the Lead Warrior will pick which wolves to go with them. Sometimes the Alpha will join the battle but it is always the Lead Warrior in charge. The Lead Warrior is also responsible for bringing new wolves into the Pack to the Alpha to either accept or decline the wolf.
Warrior - A Warrior is a wolf who specializes in fighting and defending the Pack. Once a pup is ready to become an apprentice, the Alpha picks who will become what role. The Warriors are responsible to protect the Pack every day and they do all the patrolling and guarding at night.
Lead Hunter - The Lead Hunter is responsible for ordering out hunting patrols and delivering prey to the Elder-Wolves and Pack-Mothers. They must check each piece of prey daily to check for spoilage.
Hunter - Hunters are one of the most important ranks in the Pack. They are responsible for hunting the food for the Pack or tracking down enemies. A hunting patrol will contain at least three Hunters and two Warriors; it's mostly up to the Lead Hunter. Once an apprentice becomes a Hunter or Warrior they get the suffix chosen by the Alpha. Ex: Duskmoon, Redsoar.
Apprentice - An apprentice is a wolf in training to either become a Warrior or Hunter. They must be six moons old to become an apprentice and train until they're a year old. Once they reach six moons, they get the suffix 'claw.' Ex: Duskclaw, Redclaw.
Pack-Mothers - A Pack-Mother is a wolf who is either raising or expecting pups. The pup's prefix is chosen by the mother, but the suffix is 'pup' Ex: Duskpup, Redpup.
Elder-Wolves - The Elder-Wolves are retired Alphas, Betas, Warriors, Hunters, Pack-Mothers and Omegas. They stay at the dens and tell stories and give advice to young pups and even sometimes older wolves. Every wolf must respect the Elder-Wolves including the Alpha. Elder-Wolves have rights to scold wolves for doing wrong.
Omegas - Omegas are the last and worst rank in the Pack. There are usually one or two Omegas and they are responsible for caring for the pups when the mother is away. The Omegas are the last wolfs to eat and they have no authority except over pups.
