Meeting Her.

Eunji was waiting for me beside the island like table. I placed Eunji on the booth styled seats and she made herself comfortable how and where she wished as I moved towards the draws to get a chopping board and knife out. Then moving towards the fridge and getting out two apples, bringing them back over to the counter holding the chopping board.

Before I start chopping the apple, I turn to face Eunji- who is leaning over the back of the chairs to watch me- and ask, "Eunie, what you said in the car about wanting trousers and short hair, was that true?"

Her cheeks held a pink hue as she now looked down, finding the bumps in the chair very interesting. She flicked her eyes back up at me before nodding her head slowly, answering, "It was twue, Appa.... Is that okay?"

She's worried it isn't okay...

Shocked, I walked over to her, engulfing her into a hug. Her small hands snaked as far around me as they could reach.
"Of course that's okay, sweetheart," I whispered in her ear gently. She nodded into my shoulder as the hug held for longer.

As we pulled apart, I knelt down beside the booth and said to her wearily, "Now, Eunji... you might not like this but some people won't think it's okay. Do you understand what I mean?"

She nodded, again. This time I wasn't too convinced she understood. She could just be saying that...
"But no matter what, I will let you wear trousers and shorts. Or whatever the heck you like, for that matter. What other people think doesn't matter, okay? Only what you think!"

Her smile grew and her legs started swinging under the seat, banging her heels against the bottom of it. The while scene in front of me made me happy, myself- my own smile growing.

"If you wearing shorts or trousers or-or dungarees makes you happy, then you should wear them! How about we shopping for things soon, yeah? Would you like that?"

There was twinkle in her eye as I offered to go shopping. Her smile- somehow- grew, making mine grow with it. I always wanted to make sure my kids were happy and knowing I was doing that made my heart swell.

Faint burbling came from the direction of the stairs. It quickly became louder, to the point of identity two separate voices. One rather high and the other slightly deeper. Their voices started to echo as the drew closer to the kitchen.

I left Eunji on the seats as I returned to the abandoned apples that needed cutting. As I did, Eunj started singing a little song to herself.

"Ohm, Appa!" A voice came, making me turn in that direction. As I saw Jungkook and Avery I smiled and kept cutting the apple.

"Didn't expect us to be in here, did you?" I asked, almost amused at his surprise. I glanced over at them to see Kook shaking his head before speaking up.

He walked over to Joon and introduced Avery. Eunji was happy to meet Kook's special friend after being told she probably wouldn't.
Out the corner of my eye, I caught a brief sighting of Avery and Eunji hugging.

"Oh, Eunie , where's Tae?" I heard Jungkook ask Eunji gently. I turned slightly to find her playing tic tac toe with Avery before answering with a 'dunno'.

I chuckled when Kook looked my way, a questioning look on his face.
"He's in the play room," I answered while pulling out two plastic bowls. I put one cut up apple in the red bowl and the other in the yellow bowl.

I turned to tell them that we should go to the play room but it seemed like they'd already gone.

"It's been nice to meet you, instead of just complimenting words-" Jungkook cut me off, getting embarrassed from my outburst.
"APPA!" He yelled, making Avery giggle.

I left to attend to the twins, so they could say goodbye alone.

It wasn't too long before Jungkook was back and the door was closed. The cool air coming back to the house, away from the spring warmth.

Once the twins had had their dinner and were in bed, I trudged over to Kook's room, sleep taking the best of me.
I left three knocks on the door and waited for a reply. He opened the door within a matter of seconds, a matching tired look upon his face.

"Just came to remind you about your haircut tomorrow. Do you have an idea of how you want it?" I asked, leaning on the doorframe.

He nodded and showed me a few pictures before agreeing on a couple and explaining why some wouldn't work.

Somehow the conversation changed into one where we were talking about Avery. I thought she was really nice. She made the twins really happy as well. It was a shame she couldn't stay for dinner really but she had her plans and we can't just change them.
