Caen
7th Jan, Saturday night

It's guard-man from yesterday and this afternoon, wearing an........apron.

I'm going to have a headache. Don't act surprised. Don't act surprised. Don't act-
"Erm... Yes. Cappuccino, s'il vous plaît.

His eyes reveal nothing through their nonchalant self as he turns around to bring my coffee I guess. So he's guard-man-barista? It sure seems like that. Multi-talented, I must say. I wander what other talents he has. Hmmmm....

Hi horny, I thought I named you Shelly. You didn't deny though. Ahem, well I'm not blind.

"Ed!" I suddenly hear Amélia exclaim and when I turn around towards the voice I see her hugging guard-man-barista or Ed. Maybe he writes songs or plays something. I can't help but feel my cheeks warming at my less than savoury thoughts. Which one?

Oh my god! Shut! Up!

"When did you come?!" Amélia's excited voice saves me from thinking further. "Why didn't you call me? I hate surprises! Oh, but I'm sooo happy to see you. Oh my god I didn't ask, how was your trip? When are you coming home?"

Wow this girl really changes emotions fast. Mr. Ed still hadn't said anything. But he looks visibly happy at seeing Amélia. They now went near the backdoor to talk more calmly. Hey what about my coffee?

A few minutes later, Jane brought my coffee along with her's and sat down opposite of me. Laughing she says, "Sorry about Amélia, she hasn't met her brother for sometime, so got excited seeing him here."

"Aunt Jane, I'm going upstairs, call me if you need anything." 'Ed' says with a small smile, his eyes lingering on me for a second too long, and swiftly heads to the door, with Amélia trailing behind him. Jane nods in his direction.

What a shocker though. They are siblings? Amy is so sunshine-y while he...not so much.

"He came here earlier today and wanted to surprise little Amy, that's why we went shopping. And look what, we met you." Affection for them clear in her voice when talking about them.

Breaking out of my trance, I change the subject and ask her about her husband, who's currently in London, and other stuff. She asks me about my family and job in return. And I answer her the same things, I told Amélia with the additional information that my parents are divorced.

An hour and many rounds of coffee and crêpes later, we're laughing about Pierre's-Jane's husband-ventures about making a vineyard when Amy joined us. We talked some more.
Next time when I looked at my watch, it was half past eight. I totally should leave now if I want to catch some sleep and get up early.

So, after trying to pay, which Jane declined quite forcibly, I got up. "I had a great evening, Jane, Amy. But I should leave now. It was nice meeting you guys."

"So, tomorrow you go back to London? We should totally meet someday after I come back." Amélia says. Right. She also lives there. "Sure, just give me a call. Okay, bye." I picked up my jacket. Jane's cafe is quite far from my hotel. I hope I'll find some taxi.

"Wait, I'll tell Edern to drop you off." Jane says and goes out of the door before I can utter a sound. Now who's Edern? How am I supposed to know?

"Amy, please tell Jane not to bother anyone, I can manage." I told Amy earnestly which she prompty ignored. "No, Ed can drop you. It's quite late."

So I just stand there awkwardly for them. When Jane returns with Ed--Edern in tow I hugged them and headed out of the cafe.
