The yellow sun rose and sat high in the cloudless Montana sky. The chilly breeze tickled the tall trees and the lush grass. Horses cantered about their luxurious paddocks, flagging their long, flowing tails. Whinnies and hoof beats filled the quiet air, setting the perfect summer scene.
Katherine Meyers paced back and forth anxiously, shuffling her expensive tall boots along the gravel parking lot.
Come on, come on. Where is he?
She wondered inside her clouded mind. Her gaze shifted from the empty, winding, road to the series of countless paddocks. She sighed a deep breath, her cares drifting away, as she lost herself in the beauty and grace of the animals. How they raced around, chasing one another, bucking and squealing the whole time. How the golden beams of the sun shown down on their glossy coats, causing them to sparkle. Yes, this is home.Katherine's thoughts were interrupted by the crunch of gravel as a hunter green truck rolled into the drive, pulling a silver horse trailer.
A smile slowly crept its way across her perfect features as she refused the urge to race up to the truck. He's here, he's finally here. Then, a thin woman popped out of the driver's seat. Before she knew it, a gleaming chestnut rump was slowly unloaded off the ramp. The gelding released a soft nicker as he surveyed his new surroundings.
Katherine took in every element of the striking beauty. From his pointed, clipped ears, to his flowing mane that whipped in the wind. His blinding white blaze made him that much more stunning. The gelding stared back at the girl through large, hazel eyes.
The pale lady slowly led the 17hh gelding toward Katherine. She gasped in delight, just as she did before her first pony ride.
Katherine paced over to greet her new mount. Her timid fingers shakily reached up to stroke his velvety muzzle, afraid her touch would spoil his beauty. The gelding let out a snort and Katherine giggled with delight.
"He's all yours, sweetie," the thin lady whispered.
"Th-thank you," was all Katherine could murmur in response.
The girl clutched the leather lead and led her very own steed into the gigantic barn.
"I can't believe you're finally here," Katherine whispered against his glossy coat. The gelding snorted in response.
"Now, what shall I call you?"
The girl studied the gorgeous animal once more.
"How about... Marvin?"
If she was not mistaken, the gelding seemed to nod his head.A/N sorry the prologue was very short, but nonetheless I hope you enjoyed yourself! Please vote and comment, it would make my day! Thanks for reading!
