The resentment began to build in Wei Ying's body unsteadily. It was quite frightening to see the thick black wave of resentment shadowing him like another being, making him a victim to it. A puppet guided by strings. This was Wei Ying and now he was misguided by his own capability; it was more of a tic they forced him to grow on. They wrecked his memories, gasifying what he used to have.
The resentment had crumbled him and built him for their accordance. Most times he rarely remembered what he had between others, but the only solid memory he had of others and himself was Lan Zhan's. They did not erase his memory of Lan Zhan no matter what it was and it elated him.
But he was feeling mixed feelings regarding a certain Jiang Cheng and the one he called Shije. Jiang Cheng seemed angry at him whatever he did, but no matter what it was about, this purple robed angry lotus of a child didn't find him competent enough and it broke down the confidence he felt.
Shije, on the other hand, was far too kind to believe. Her affection was too touchy, and he didn't like touch. Whenever he tried to raise the concern about how he didn't like her holding him or patting his head, his throat closed up and he could only whimper which was an inclination for this certain shije to touch him more which was inconspicuously not the case but these people were just as oblivious as their narrow-mindedness towards the servants.
So, he stopped any sort of response towards the others but it only increased their touches which he disliked and each time he saw a hand coming his way, he would flee from the spot with an excuse of some sorts.
Since he refused to be loved or hated by these two people from the Jiang sect, the resentment found it another loophole which they rushed to tighten. They fed him with tons and tons of lies. They offered handcrafted memories which showed him the extent to which Shije despised him and Jiang Cheng begrudged him.
What was worse?
No matter what they did for him, he couldn't stop himself from saving him every single time and he didn't know what he had in him to go to such drastic lengths. But he did it. Every. Single. Damn. Time.
The only people who he felt safe to be with were the twin jades. Although he was relatively safe with them, which he had assumed since they did not touch him but else, he didn't feel safe. Both tried to convince him into listening to either the Xiao or the guqin and most times he just wished to bawl his eyes out because he couldn't tell them their music didn't work on him, for he had no core.
"Wei Ying, the music will help you be in control." Lan Zhan had said to him one fine night.
"Yes master Wei, it will be good for you. Cleansing will help you to keep in control with your methods." Lan Xichen eagerly piped in and later leaving the two to talk alone.
Wei Ying begged to differ but unfortunately his circumstances didn't let him as it would only rouse pity which he dislikes. He doesn't someone's pity.
