I crept down the stairs before him, hoping that if my mother saw us,she didn't question me. I looked both ways.

"Coast is clear," I whispered back to Jase. He nodded and stayed behind me.My mom must have gone to town to run errands. There was no telling where grandma was.For all I knew, she could be sitting in a tree outside, yelling at people who walked by.

"I'm not picky.But I prefer to eat alone,if you don't mind."

"Umm...That's weird?Why?"

"I have my reasons.Now,shoo.Leave me be."He made the 'shoo' motion with his hand.

"Fine.I'll be in the living room,Your Highness."I rolled my eyes at him.

After maybe a half an hour,he came into the living room and sat down by me on the couch. He slowly scooted closer and closer.

"Back up.I will hurt you."I said, not removing my eyes from the TV.From the corner of my eye,I caught a glimpse of him frowning.

"...Tell me about the school that we will be going to tomorrow."

"Food sucks, the teachers don't care, the students all hate each other, and the homework is never ending.Basically,it's the average high school."I picked up my can of Dr. Pepper off of the coffee table in front of me and took a sip.

"Oh...Can I be with you all day?"He sounded so innocent.Almost like a kid.

"I suppose.Just don't act...weird.My friends will eat you alive if you do."

"You hang out with CANNIBALS?!"

I shot him a look that should only be given to a crazy person,"Uh...Wow.We have some work to do..."I sighed and turned off the TV."Let's go."

"Where are we going?"He popped up off of the couch.

"Upstairs.We're having a high school movie marathon.No offense,but you're kind of a moron."

"How could I take offense to anything you say? You're my love."He practically had hearts swarming his head.

"I don't think so.Let's go."

I rounded up every high school movie that was in the attic.I had Jase carry them to the living room.We spent hours watching them. Before we knew it,it was dark outside.

"Learning yet?"I turned to Jase, who was sitting on the couch next to me,leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees.

"Yeah.I suppose."

"Which movie taught you the most so far?"

"Ummm....Mean Girls. Are your friends like that?"

"No!We hate girls like that!"I was almost hurt that he could ask something like that.

"Good.I would hate that."He smiled and continued to watch the movie.

I heard the door open and I was instantly terrified.

"Kyla,we're home."My mom said. She came into the living room and smiled politely."Hello,Jase.Kyla's grandma told me all about your situation. You're welcome to stay with us until your family issues calm down."I was so shocked.Grandma covered for me?!

"Thank you,Ma'am.I am greatful."Jase returned an equally polite smile.

"You're welcome dear. There's another spare room upstairs. That can be yours.Have fun, kids."She turned and went back to the kitchen.

I turned to Jase."What was that?!"

"I told you that me and your grandma had this all planned out."He didn't take his eyes off the TV.

Wow.This whole thing is going to get really complicated...I got up and turned the TV off.

Jase frowned."Why?"

"We have school tomorrow. We have to be up early.Let'a go upstairs and get ready for bed."Jase popped up and followed me up the stairs
