"It's been about an hour, are you nearly ready?" Max yelled from downstairs
"Nearly!" Kylie screeched, she was straightening my hair for about the fifth time
"Ow!" I screamed as Kylie burnt the back of my neck with the straighteners.
"Shit! Sorry" she said leaping backwards "I'm done now anyway" she turned around the mirror so I could see myself properly for the first time. I was shocked to see myself with makeup on, Kylie had put on a light coat of foundation and mascara, and a pinkie lipgloss on my lips giving me a very minimalist look. I was wearing a navy skintight dress which suited my curves perfectly. My look was finished off with a black velvet choker.
"Thank you so much" I smiled hugging my best friend
"No problem" she laughed grabbing my hand "now come on we're going to be late"
We rushed down the stairs to be greeted by max and his friend Nicholas who was supposed to be my date but looked the least bit interested in me as he looked at his watch and sighed.
He was tall with shaggy dark brown hair which was slightly gelled. He was wearing a white top with some denim jeans.
"Hey" max grinned at Kylie then turned to me " you actually look nice... For a mathlete" he chuckled while scruffing up my hair.
"Hey" Kylie said while smacking his hand away from my head "I spent ages on that"
"Sorry" he smiled sheepishly as Kylie nudged Nicholas gesturing towards me.
"Yeah you look nice" Nicholas said awkwardly
"Thanks" I reply, looking down at my feet.
"Should we go?" Max asked breaking the silence.I had already promised to stay sober so I could drive us all home but somehow I ended up driving us there as well. Nicholas awkwardly chatted to me before giving up and playing crossyroads on his phone, I was glad he had stopped talking but in someways it was worse because now all we could hear was Kylie and Max snogging in the back. I ended up turning the music up really loud and tapping along on the steering wheel.
"Finally!" Max groaned as we pulled up on the drive. It looked like the party was already in full swing, people were dancing, snogging, puking and this was only outside.
As soon as we went inside I felt sick the smell of sweat and alcohol was overwhelming.
"Are you okay?" Kylie shouted over the sound of the loud music "it's just you've gone a bit pale" she looked genuinely concerned.
"I'm fine" I answered plastering a smile on my face. She nodded before disappearing off with Max. I suddenly felt a warm hand touch my elbow, I spun round and was surprised to see Nicholas standing there.
"Hi" I smiled weakly
"Do you want a drink?" He asked politely
"No thanks" I responded
"Oh okay" he smiled, looking down at his feet.
"You can go you know you don't have to hang around with me just because I'm your date" I said truthfully, he looked up at me with relief
"Thank you, I'm glad you said it not me" he replied before going off to chat up a petite girl with blonde hair.
"Charming" I sniggered to myself
"What's that?" Someone said from behind me
"Oh nothing" I said turning around, I opened my mouth as I realised I was face to face with my schools most well known drug dealer James Hicks.
"Sorry" I reply hastily, before turning away to find Kylie. But he grabbed my arm and turned me back to face him.
"Let me get you a drink" he chuckled before pushing me towards the drinks table
"No I'm fine" I insist, trying to loosen from his grip. He laughs and hands me a cup.
"Drink up" he says in a demanding tone
I reluctantly take a sip and then another and then decide to just finish the whole thing.
"Good girl" he grins putting an arm round my shoulder.
"Jem!" Shouts Kylie, making her way over to me. When I come over I see that she had been crying, her cheeks are red and puffy and her mascara is running down her face.
"Kylie! What happened?" I ask concerned
"I needed to pee and I went to the toilet but M..Max was in there kissing another girl" she cried on my shoulder "who are you?" She slurred looking up at James. It took a few seconds before a look of realisation came on her face "oh"
Just as Kylie starts to cheer up I suddenly feel really sick but at the same time I felt a pleasant warmth. I turn to James.
"What was is that drink?" I asked, he just smiled and handed me another.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Jemma I have something for us!" Kylie smiled
"What is it?" I ask staggering towards her. The party had calmed down with only 20 odd people left at the house. I shook my head as Kylie produced a small packed from out of her pocket.
"No Kylie" I laugh "drugs are bad"
"Please" Kylie begged slurring her words
"But I don't want to get into trouble" I sigh
"We won't" she said shaking her head vigorously
"Promise" I slur with my pinkie in the air, she wrapped her pinkie round mine.
"I promise"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up with the worse headache in the world, I groaned as I opened my eyes to see my family and Kylie standing around me with worried expressions on their faces.
"What's going on?" I ask my voice coming out in a hoarse croak.
"Ah is she awake?" Asked a gentle voice
"Hello? Am I invisible?" I snap
"Hello Jemma, I'm nurse Goodwin. You have been in hospital for a few days from alcohol poisoning, it's cleared up now so after a few more tests you should be good to go" she smiled cheerfully before walking off.
"Jemma! Darling are you ok?" My mum asks her brow furrowed.
"I think so" I replied groggily "have I been awake before now?"
"Vaguely" my mum nodded, before stepping out the way so my dad could reach me. Oh god.
"Listen here young lady, you will never ever, ever do something that stupid again. Do you understands?" He says sternly
I nod weakly "sorry dad"
"I'm just glad your safe" he whispers kissing my forehead
Kylie comes up to me and bursts into tears "I'm so so so sorry Jemma" she cries hugging me tightly.
"It's okay" I whisper "I didn't have to drink as much as I did"
She frowned "I know but I shouldn't have pushed you so far"
"You were sad it's fine" I reassured her
She smiled before hugging me again.
I wasn't angry at Kylie I really wasn't but one thing was still playing on my mind.
What actually happened that night?
