As the mailman walks away to the next mailbox, young Gurbet Tamtamis quickly runs inside, holding an envelope close to her chest, closing the door quietly behind her.
Her long blonde hair covering her bright hazel eyes, which were almost sparkling in excitement.
She quickly sat down, leaning against the wall as her heart raced. She tore open the envelope as the letter inside slid down to her hand. Her cheeks flush as she starts reading the very own writing of her very loved one..."Dear Tam,
It seems a lifetime since we met outside the church, or shared our first kiss on the warm sands at the beach. I do miss you, I wish to be home soon.
This great undertaking for God and country has landed me in a tropical paradise, somewhere in the middle of the Pacific known as the "Island of Solomons."
It is a garden of Eden. The jungle holds both beauty and terror in its depths, most terrible of which is man. We have met the enemies and have learned nothing more about them except the fact that we are here for the same reason as we, to kill. I have, however, learned some things about myself. There are things men can do to one another that are sobering to the soul. It is one thing to reconcile these things with God, but another to even it with yourself.
As I write this letter, my feet are out of my tent as the mosquitoes feast on them. Speaking of mosquitoes, how's your sister?
I hope she's not bugging you much, love.
Now, this is all for this letter.Yours
Silas"
