Silver lashes lifted from tan cheeks, opening dull grey eyes to the world.
The unfamiliar and musty scent of this room was....
Where was he?
There was no pain.
He remembered...falling?
He hit the ground, didn't he?
It was...warm, surprisingly.
'So tired...' he thought to himself, trying to pull his body into an upright position.
The sheets rustled quietly, soft fabric and a comfortable mattress underneath him.
'It would be best to get up, so I can figure out where I am.'
Eyes trailed from the ceiling now to what looked to be a mound of blankets at the end of his bed—
His hand reached for the pile, confused by why the mound was so big if it was only three blankets-
Pulling away one blanket, he had a bit of a struggle with the fabric, almost as if there was a weight keeping it there.
Trying once more to yank the object, it came free— revealing a sleeping person with a mess of dark, curly hair that covered their face, a pale complexion, and wearing strange clothing that he couldn't recognize.
Who was this?
Their facial features were soft, like a girl's-
And their robes, so flowy...
He studied them for a second, before leaning forward and jabbing the other on the cheek.
A soft groan came from their lips—
...Actually, now that the boy thought about it, the other looked about his age.The fair-skinned child's eyes opened finally, revealing stormy grey hues dull from sleep that blinked once or twice before finally shifting their gaze toward him—
Only to widen in surprise as a smile appeared on their face, and with a quick swish of white, he was grabbed by the shoulders and faced by this... boy?
"I'm so glad you're awake," the unknown child exclaimed, his smile reaching his eyes—although now his hues were examining the other in confusion.
"Who are you—...and get off of me," the silver haired boy winced, trying to pull the white-cloaked child from his sore shoulders.
"I'm Eraqus," The other beamed, moving to pull a bright red hair tie from his wrist and start to pull back his wavy locks. "You've been sleeping for almost two days now, you know."
Two days? Where even was he?
"Where am I?" the boy inquired, while the other finished pulling his hair into a messy ponytail, some strands of his bangs falling back into his face.
"Scala Ad Caelum," Eraqus replied, "But the real question is, what's your name?"
"..."
The other turned his head away. Here he was, in an unfamiliar world, with a complete stranger in front of him--
As if he was going to answer this question.
The stranger—Eraqus—tilted his head in confusion, raising an eyebrow.
"Uh...you didn't hit your head, right? You do know your name at least...?"
More silence from the boy, which only made the white-robed child wither slightly.
Despite the two being basically the same age, this mysterious other seemed much older mentally, an enigma within Eraqus' eyes.
His gaze hardened slightly, wanting this boy to stop staring at him—and the other took the hint, averting his gaze.
"I'll just call you Silver for now," he mumbled, moving to slide off the bed.
"I'd rather you not," the other finally responded, toying with the end of one of his bangs.
Eraqus' confusion only seemed to deepen, before he gave a slight shrug.
"Well, alright— 'Silver' is out of the question. How about- "
"I don't want a nickname," the boy spat, "I want to know why I'm here. Tell me I'm dreaming."
"Uh...you're dreaming?" Eraqus told him, half-joking as he turned his palms up in yet another shrug.
"Smartass." He grumbled, crossing his arms.
"Come on then, sleepy," the dark haired boy rolled his eyes, taking one of the other's wrists. "The Master said he wanted to see you once you woke up."
Master...? Who?
Should he really follow this boy?
Would this 'Master' tell him where he was? There was only one way to find out, wasn't there?
With a reluctant sigh, the silver haired child slid off the bed, moving to meet with Eraqus.
"Lead the way, I suppose," he muttered, folding his arms.Eraqus seemed a little unsettled, however he simply shook off the icy gaze he was being given and moved to exit the room.
"It's gonna be a bit of a walk..."
