RING! RING! RING! RING! SLAM!
I slammed that annoying alarm clock. Wait- I think I broke it. Who even cares anymore? I rolled out of my bed and onto the floor, and picked myself up. Here I am, socially awkward Dahon ready to start the day. I went down the stairs, and opened the kitchen cabinet. I chose my favorite cereal, Cocoa Puffs, and got out the milk gallon. I proceeded to do normal breakfast things, and after eating my Puffs, I would put it in the sink and brush my teeth. After brushing my teeth, I would change my clothes. On and on my routine went, until I was ready to go to school.
I swiftly opened the door and hopped on my scooter, riding it to Running Brook Elementary. Upon arrival, I would be greeted with posters on the walls saying "Congratulations 5th grade Robins!" or "5th grade Robins are going to soar!". In fact, they were really weird. I shrugged it off and put my scooter in the bike rackets and head to the gate for morning recess. I heard the speakers going off saying "Attention all Kinder to Fourth graders! You all leave early for the 'Finals!'
It was confusing why. I decided to put that off and run towards Lila, Ally, Katie, and Sam, who four were playing Foursquare with London, Braydon and Kathy were in line, and I fell in line as last. As I waited patiently to be in the game, Pico had went over to the foursquare game and tapped my shoulder. I turned around to him.
"I wonder what the Finals looks like.." he'd ask. I shrugged in response. He rolled his eyes. "Okay, I'll leave you be." he'd sigh and I'd turn back around. I saw the GATE kids, Peter Griffin, Luka, and Amelia. talking to each other. Luka saw me, and waved at me to come over. I left the line and ran towards them. "Hey, you guys barely talk to me, why are you calling me over?" I'd ask, confused.
"We wanted to talk about the finals, of course!" Luka responded. I'd sigh and protest with "We don't need to worry about it Luka, the Finals is probably just a test." Peter Griffin said. "I overheard teachers saying that it's the most impossible test in America! Only the gifted pass it, and that means us!" Luka exclaimed. Amelia would nod her head in agreement. I'd respond in disagreement "We're just first batch, what to expect? It's probably some boring test on the computer."
"Whatever you say, Dahon." Peter responded. I'd sigh, turning the other direction to go back to the game of foursquare. Out of nowhere, I see Chase and Connor sprinting towards me in excitement, which was shocking.
Suddenly I saw Pico hit the ball hardly on the ground and it bounced up. It was heading for Connor! I'd point to the sky, Peter and Amelia looking up high as it hit Connor's head. Pico covered his mouth with both hands in embarrassment. Lila, who was A, meekly said "Interference..?"
"Dang, Pico." London said. Jackson sprinted to the rescue, helping Connor up. He gave a thumbs up to say he's okay as he went in line to play foursquare. Wow, what a morning recess it was.
Seeing that Jackson had walked away before I had the chance to communicate, I sighed as I waited for the school bell to ring. It did, after all. It went like:
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
I fell in my class line as first, with London and Pico after me, and Tyson topping off last. We went inside the classroom, and after, we were unpacking and preparing. We sat down for class as Mr. Fisherman came in wearing a blue fish costume. I giggled, the class and I were laughing.
Mr. Fisherman sighed as he went in front of the class to announce something. "As you know, the Finals is today." I knew it, that was obvious. He continued "The Finals is a very complex test that isn't like the others." Yeah right, probably just a computer test. "To be a bit more prepared, we are going to do some fun riddle and detective games." The whole class got excited, obviously not knowing what those were. I was excited too! I loved riddle and detective games!
