Prologue

Who knew life as a soul collector could be so boring? It mostly revolved around favouritism and Lilly had lost all hers due to minor personal issues. Oh, who was she kidding? They were major personal issues with the people who were in charge. Mainly because she refused to be ordered around. Her stubbornness had caused her to live out decades worth of punishment at a desk. She got no more assignments or collections or even clean ups. She just had to file records of people who actually went out and did the things that she used to do. The only perk to being punished as the soul collectors document filer was that everyone was genuinely kind towards her.

“Hey little one!” yelled her closest friend Luc. Lilly just rolled my eyes to that comment. Lilly was much older than him but she decided to take the high ground and not comment.

“What’s up?” She asked with an annoyed voice. So much for not being bothered.

“You have a choice. Good news or the bad news first?” He asked while Lilly just glared at him.

“Right okay,” He said finally realising the purpose for the glare. “ Bad news is that you have to hurry up and finish this before I can tell you the good news.”

That just earned him another glare which caused him to raise his eyebrows with a “Why are you glaring at me?” look. Lilly just rolled her eyes and gestured to all the paper work on the desk and hope that he would get that she was trying to say that this work will never be finished.

“Ah…” He said finally catching on with the silent messaging. “The good news is that you have and assignment.” He said with a smug look while Lilly’s jaw fell to the floor.

“He requested you personally.” Luc explained. Lilly finally managed to close her mouth and sat staring at him waiting for the soul profile.

“What?” He said with an innocent tone. “Oh do you want this file?” he said while bringing the file into clear view.

“You’re going to have to trade for it.” He explained cheekily.

“Okay, close your eyes.” She said seductively. He obeyed immediately and Lilly just grabbed the file and whacked him on the back of the head with it.

“Ouch!” He exclaimed.

She looked over the file.

His name- Valentine Salvatore

His age- 17

There were a few more boring details about his life and weaknesses and strengths until she read the bottom of the file where it stated the reason for his soul being important.

He had the power of sway.

This is going to be fun.

1546 England

“Henry stop chasing me.” Said Gabriela who was beginning to giggle.

“Then stop looking so adorable when you run away from me.” Replied Henry innocently. Gabriela decided to give her Fiancée a break so she slowed down so he could catch her. Sure enough his masculine arms wrapped around her waist and she just collapsed into a fit of giggles.

“Oh dear you caught me. What next?” asked Gabby.

“Sometimes I think you just let me catch you.” He replied while catching his breath. Gabby just pretended to be hurt “Me? Never.” She said with as much of a calm voice as she could muster. Henry just chuckled and sat down pulling Gabby so she would end up sitting right next to him.

“There is one thing I need you to say before our wedding tomorrow.” Said Henry in a serious tone. Before giving Gabby a time to ask he said “I need you to say that you are mine for eternity.”

Gabby was confused as she had said many things to him that were similar to that but she went with it.

“I am yours for eternity.” Gabby said while gazing into Henry’s eyes. His eyes flashed a different colour for a second then returned to their normal shade of green. Gabby raised an eyebrow but then thought it must have been caused by pre wedding jitters. She decided to play some more chasing games with him so she got up onto her feet and ran.

She ran straight into a knife. She looked up at the person wielding the weapon and she saw he was smiling. His grin reaching from ear to ear as if he enjoyed killing her.

“Gabby.” The man said.

“Gabby.” He repeated with a more frantic tone

“GABBY WAKE UP NOW!” was what snapped me out of my day dream.

“What?” I asked.

“You’ve got an assignment and he has the power of sway.”

This got me moving.
