Sherlock and John go on a night out. There is a charity event in Scotland yard. Lestrade had invited them. Since they are friends of the DI they went, for Lestrade and for the good cause. They stood at a table, a beer in front of them. Music playing, officers making a fool of themselves. Then it was Lestrade's turn to sing. He sang a song, not too bad. And then he could pick someone for the next song. Lestrade's eyes sparkled. L"John Watson will sing the next song. I was made for loving you". John shook his head, no way he was going to do that. "Oh come on John! It's for a good cause! People will like it!" Greg tried. John just kept shaking his head. "No... Not in a million years Greg!" He tried and sipped his beer. "Watson! Watson! Watson!" Greg started. A moment later the whole crowd. But John didn't mind. He would never do that. But then Sherlock proposed a deal. "Just go John. And if you do, I will be the next. We both know you can sing, rather well" Sherlock said. Earlier that week Sherlock caught John singing in the kitchen. John looked at Sherlock for a moment. "Alright fine! I'll do it... But you will do Pavaroti" John said and walked to the stage. He took the mic and waited for the song to begin.

John was lucky that he knew the song. He quite loves it. He told himself to focus on Sherlock. He took this as an opportunity to let everything go. This was a party so might as well make people laugh right? Win-win situation. The song started and John sang. He moved along with the music. He mostly looked at Sherlock and he pointed at him too. John saw this song as an opportunity to express his feelings towards Sherlock without anyone knowing. Not even Sherlock. John could always say it was because of the nerves and he only felt comfortable doing it with Sherlock. But secretly John hoped that Sherlock understood. As long as it would not end their friendship. That was the main reason why John never expressed his feelings before. He was afraid that Sherlock would find it bad or wouldn't understand. That he would be mad. And worst of all end the friendship and make him move out.

Sherlock watched, smiling at how silly John acted. John was quite the entertainer. Sherlock saw what John was trying to do. And he understood what he was trying to say. But he wasn't planning on telling John just yet. The song ended and John was now glad he did it. People cheered and laughed. "Alright, alright. Bloody idiots. Hehehe. Next up, Mister Sherlock Holmes. But hey, I'll be somewhat kind and he can pick his own song" John said and walked back to their table. "That was rather good Watson" Sherlock said and walked up to the stage. "First, if I find a video online I swear I will kill you with my own hands... And you know me, it is no joke. I need fresh body parts anyway" he said before deciding wich song he would pick. "Run boy run, by woodkid" he announced, sitting on a stool. The music started and he just sang the song. John watched and smiles. He has seen Sherlock play the violin multiple times. But never sing. And it was great. Lovely song too. It fitted Sherlock. Sherlock kept his eyes closed. After the song people cheered again. "Next up is Anderson, Barbie girl" he smirked and walked back to John. Everyone started laughing and Anderson tried to leave unnoticed. But Donovan pushed him on stage. "That was great Sherlock, I didn't know you could sing like that?" John said to his friend. "We all have secrets, don't we John? Hey, can you film this? I need to go for a few minutes." And before John could answer Sherlock was out of the building. John just nodded and took his phone out, filming Anderson. After the song Sherlock came back. "John can we go home now?" Sherlock said, acting like he was really bored. "Oh... Well, sure Sherlock" John understood that this wasn't Sherlock's cup of tea. He was surprised that Sherlock had stayed so long. "I'll just finish this up" John said and finished his beer. Sherlock did the same. John brought away their glasses and nodded. He and Sherlock walked out. A cab already waiting. "Well isn't that handy?" John smiled and stepped in. Telling the cabbie to go to Bakerstreet. Sherlock stepped in too and the cab took off. The cab took a diffrent route than usual. "One who wants money" John thought. The cab drove to a lake where a kiosk stood. "He we are sirs" the cabbie said. John looked confused, "excuse me, we asked for Bakerstreet" he said. Sherlock smirked to himself. "No John, you did" he said and stepped out of the cab. "Are you staying in the cab or will you come?" Sherlock asked with a smile, walking up to the kiosk. John followed, curious why Sherlock came to this place. "Sherlock, what is going on?"

"Beautiful view isn't it John?"
John looked at the lake infront of them, it sure was nice. "Yeah it is really beautiful but why are we here?" John asked.
"We both enjoy music in our own way, don't we? You listen to the lyrics, I to the music itself"
"Yes, I think so. But that doesn't matter does it?"
"People who listen to the lyrics understand the meaning, people who listen to the music, feel the feeling that the song presents. May I show you one, that you should listen to? To the lyrics. I suppose you will know what we are doing here John" Sherlock said and took out his phone. He gave John the earphones and started the song.

"A hot summer night fell like a net
I've gotta find my baby yet
I need you to soothe my head
and turn my blue heart to red

Doctor Doctor, gimme the news I got a
Bad case of lovin' you
No pill's gonna kill my ill I got a
Bad case of lovin' you"

And Sherlock stopped the song. John's eyes had grown big. Sherlock did know. John opened his mouth to speak, but no sound was heard. Sherlock thought for a moment that he had missunderstood. "I am sorry... Forget all of this. Let's get home" Sherlock said and started walking back to the cab. He was stopped by John taking the sleeve of his coat. "Sherlock... Don't go" John said. He pulled Sherlock back and faced him. "I suppose I should tell now. I... I don't know how..." Sherlock tried. John just smiled and layed one hand on Sherlock's cheek. "Shut up..." John said softly and leaned in until his lips met Sherlock's. Sherlock was frozen, didn't expect it. But he slowly melted and kissed back, his arms around John. And from that moment on it was just the two of them against the rest of the world.
