Prologue

All it takes is a smile.

Everyone may think you are the sweetest person ever and have a great life. They think you don't ever get sad.

Well they are all wrong. My name is Nikki Derik. I am 16 and I am referred to as the school's goody-two shoes.

My best friend, Taylor Indi, thinks I have the perfect life. She thinks I have gobs of money. She thinks my parents give me whatever I want.

Well it's the complete opposite. My parents spent their money wisely, and they only get me what I need.

My parents divorced when I was 5. Since then both my parents have gotten remarried.

My father married a woman named Shana. She seems nice, but I think she is a little bit of an attention hog. I try to get along with her for my fathers sake.

My mother had married to a really nice man named Pete. He tries to make us happy a lot. My mom seems to really like him so I just deal with it.

My sibling also seems to have the same opinions about our step-parents. I am the youngest of six. I have three brothers and one sister.

The oldest child is my brother, Shawn. He is 22 years old. My sister, Skylar, is a close second at 21 years old. Behind her follows my brother Sam. He is 19. Behind Sam is my favorite brother Zack. He is 17.

We make it seem is if we are twins. We look close enough and we are always together. He is always there to protect me.

My siblings all live with my mother. We all take turns visiting our father. I don't visit my father as much because I spend alot of time training for softball. I spend most of my free time either practicing or running with Zack.

Sports help me relax. Softball season has just started up and so has school.

My atempt at a new book. I think I might put Sweet 16 on hold for a while. I will probably finish it after this book. I enjoy feedback so please comment. Piture about or to the side is who I want to play Nikki.
