Last Day of School
Y/N POV
"Y/N!" A voice calls out.
I turn around and my smile widened as I saw Soobin and Yenojun waving at me. I crazily waved back and ran towards them.
The last day of school was always our favourite day. Obviously because of summer break, but more of what we did during the summer.
Every summer we would break into the school and explore it. Sometimes we would stay there overnight. Sometimes we would stay there for days at a time. We knew the entire campus by heart and could probably get around with our eyes closed.
None of us could really remember when or why it started. It was just something we did for fun.
----------
We were all in the same class. Since it was the last day, we were given a free day.
"Have you seen Beomgyu at all today?" Yeonjun asks. Soobin and I both shake our heads.
"No. I haven't. But I did hear that Taehyun and Hyuka might skip today. I left earlier than them though." I said.
Just then Taehyun ran through the doorway and suddenly stopped, causing both Huening Kai and Beomgyu to crash into him.
Mr. Park didn't bother looking up and noticing they were from different classes in younger grades. They usually come and go as they please.
"Speak of the devil!" Soobin laughed.
The boys rushed over to us excitedly.
"We have-"
"NEWS!" Beomgyu said cutting Taehyun off.
"Big news-"
"HUGE NEWS!" Huening Kai cut him off this time.
"The school is-"
"August-"
"EXPANDING!"
"More halls-"
"Rooms-" They kept interrupting each other. Soobin, Yeonjun and I looked at each other in confusion.
"Okay umm... Taehyun, why don't you tell us what happened?" I said.
"In August. They're going to build onto the school. That means more halls, classrooms and places to explore soon!" His smile is huge. We all look at each other in excitement.
"And if we're lucky, a new floor!" Huening Kai added.
----------
Out of habit, I run my hand along the wall as I make my way to an abandoned stairwell. It was where the boys and I met up during break. And for some reason, the only wall I run my hand along. It usually feels familiar but somehow it feels different today.
And that's when I noticed it.
There was a brick that had slightly shifted. It looked a little loose.
Running fast towards the end of the hall, I almost fell on Soobin but was caught by Yeonjun.
"What's wrong Y/N?" Yeonjun asks. He's still holding onto me.
"The brick wall. There's a brick that was shifted." I pointed down the hall.
They all get up and I showed them the brick. Huening Kai suddenly kicked it in and it fell. We see something but can't make out what it is. He then kicked down a few more bricks and we saw a wooden surface at the end of a very very small hall. We decided to make the opening bigger so we can fit through.
Just as we were about to enter this new place, the bell rang.
If only timing could get worse.
----------
Although it was a free day, we had all planned to look at the hall after school.
What could possibly be down that hall? I wondered. I wasn't able to pay attention until
"Y/N?" Soobin called.
"Y/N?" He called again.
"Huh?" I looked back at him.
"Did you hear us?" Yeonjun asked. I shook my head in guilt.
"We were just saying how the new hall seems Sketchy." Taehyun said. He looked as if it was the only thing on his mind. And it was. Not only on his, but on all of ours.
"How so?" I asked confused. "It's just another hall we can explore. I wonder what's in there though..." I smiled.
"Well-' Beomgyu started. "All the abandoned areas are just old and dusty. No one ever goes there other than us. I'm pretty sure Principle Kim even forgot about them. And he's been in this school the longest." The others nodded in agreement.
"But that hallway was closed off and suddenly a brick is loose. It has to mean something." He continued.
----------
Taehyun, Beomgyu and Hyuka all went back to their classes. Yeonjun, Soobin, the rest of our class and I were sitting at our desks. I stared eagerly at the clock, waiting for the bell to ring in a few minutes.
"Alright class. I will see you all next year. Make sure you study to standards." Mr. Park said.
I was so glad I wouldn't have him as my teacher next year. He was the worst one in the school. Always criticizing students' work in a bad way. When he teaches us one way and we do it, he tells us it's wrong and teaches us a completely different strategy. He always tries to make the students look bad, but doesn't know he's just embarrassing himself.
Screw him. It's summer break soon and we'll be able to do whatever we want. I thought to myself.
Just then the bell rings. Everyone rushes out of their seats and crams through the doorway. Yeonjun managed to escape the crowd leaving me and Soobin trying to find a way out.
