Once upon a time, a little girl was born under the hot August sun surrounded by sunshine. Her parents loved her more than anything. Then, one day the little girl was told by her loving parents that she would have two beautiful babies to play with. The little girl was delighted and took care of the babies and loved them beyond measure. They were the perfect family, and for a time the little girl was happy. Then, that time ended. It was as if a stormy gray cloud followed the little girl everywhere she went, draining her of the sunshine that used to sparkle in her eyes. The evil storm cloud teased her giving her mere seconds of joy before snatching her beloved sunshine away replaced with a monsoon of tears, cruelty, and crushed dreams. In 1st grade her so called friends whom she admired so much finally allowed her to play hide and go seek with them. The little girl hid behind the wiggly worm and stayed crouched there for a half hour only to get up and find her friends on the lower playground laughing about how they ditched the freak. In the second grade her teacher thought she couldn’t read as well as any of her classmates, so she was pulled out of class and stuck in a small room with girls who had no want to learn only to be taught the same things every day for two years. In third grade she defended a teacher who had done the unspeakable because she couldn’t help but see the good in everyone. In fourth grade she studied her spelling for an hour every single night and still got a C in spelling while the mean little girls who she still admired got As without even glancing at their spelling sheets. In fifth grade she reached her goal of getting into Accelerated Math but this delightful news was soon dampened with the tears the little girl shed when she was diagnosed with a learning disability. The little girl’s brain didn’t quite work right, she thought that she was broken. For the next four years the little girl went to tutoring trying to fix the her broken brain. While they fixed her head her heart broke. In sixth grade boys chanted mustache unibrow as she sat in History trying to take notes. Others called her ugly and dumb. In seventh grade she started to believe them. She plucked her eyebrows until they bleed, and studied more than any twelve year old ever should. While other kids played outside, sunshine seeping into their pores the little girl read and checked her homework. In eighth grade it payed off. The little girl was put into the Honors English and Reading classes, but at a price. She was burn out and tired. That summer the little girl hardly went out of her room let alone outside. In the search of sunshine all the little girl found was storm clouds and tears. She was a friend to everyone yet no one was to her. The little girl always said I love you to the people who hated her. That summer the little girl’s heart broke. Her freshman year the little girl was diagnosed with depression.
