The day dragged on as she laid her head on her desk and repeated the conversation in her mind. It was nice to know where she stood in reverence on Shidou's scale, but the part of her that had hoped for more seemed restless with the outcome of last night's conversation. It was a failure, yet she was prompted to behave normally the very next day.

"Can you move out of the way, you fucking-" Rin cut himself off abruptly when [y/n] turned around, shooting him a flat look upon seeing his face again. His normal comment had been stopped when he noticed the lack of Shidou's presence, hence him having no reason to act like a complete dick for a minute. "Move."

"Go around me." She muttered, turning back to the vending machine that was busy loading her money in the slowest speed possible. Once the money was accounted for, she tapped the button to buy a juice box that soon fell off the shelf and hit the bottom. She reached into the dispenser and took the juice, turning to Rin who looked more peeved as she took her time. "What?"

"Where's that antennae freak? I'm surprised you're not sucking his dick somewhere." The raven muttered as he brushed past her, aggressively shoving 75 cents into the slot and slamming a fist onto the button to buy a drink. His movements were curt, and it didn't surprise her one considering he was Itoshi Rin.

She rolled her eyes, stabbing the plastic straw into the hole of the juice box. "Yeah, right. I don't know where he went, but I'm guessing he's probably in the gym storage room with some girl."

"So you do know where he went." Rin shot back flatly, sipping on his drink as he walked away. The conversation could have ended there, but she chose to follow after him, walking beside the boy who shot her a disgusted look. "What the hell do you want?"

"Calm your tits." The girl huffed, putting her hands up in defense. "I got rejected the other day by Ryusei."

There was a moment of silence before Rin scoffed. "Okay? And what do you want me to do about that?"

"Nothing?? I'm just telling you because I don't know what to do now." [y/n] dragged a hand down her face, knowing she should have just kept it to herself. I mean, Rin was nothing more than a classmate and friend (she considers them friends but who knows what Rin thinks about her) who talk often but not a lot. Despite his shitty attitude and his terrible way of speaking, he always gave good advice that was never sugarcoated.

"I don't know. Go die." Rin shrugged nonchalantly, sharply turning the corner to cut her off before she could try to catch up with him. This action failed since she simply ran over to walk on other side of him.

She reached up to brush a strand out hair out of her face and let out a small sigh. "I wish, but I'm supposed to be acting like nothing matters. I just... don't know how to do that." As much as she wanted to behave normally about everything, she couldn't just forget the feelings that festered within her heart for the past few years. It wasn't like those feelings of love and affection would just vanish the instant she got rejected.

"Just forget him. Pretend he's no one. To hell with anything he says. He's nothing but a talentless blonde roach." Rin barked, getting a little personal with that last line that he had used on Shidou once before during soccer practice. It was quite blatant how much innate hatred he had for the blonde teammate of his.

"Ah." The girl paused for a second, noticing a familiar brunette coming their way. "Good idea. You're so mean with the way you talk. Imagine how your girlfriend feels." She muttered jokingly.

"My girlfriend likes me either way." Rin rolled his eyes, advancing forward to meet the brunette halfway.

[y/n] watched as Rin wrapped an arm around her, pulling her down the hallway towards the stairs where they would head up to the roof to eat lunch as usual. A small empty feeling enclosed her heart when she finally acknowledged that she yearned for an experience like that with the guy she liked. Who could blame her?

"[f/n]!" The call of her name snapped her out of the small daze she was in. Before she could even turn in the direction of the voice calling out to her, she was tackled in a side hug by the sweaty male she had recognized based on his rough mannerisms.

Remembering Rin's advice, she chose to do exactly what he said. Pretend he's nothing. "What, Ryusei?"

"You didn't bring my clothes." Shidou muttered as he adjusted the strap of his bag and shook her body lightly with his other hand.

The [h/c] haired girl shrugged his arm off with a small chuckle.

"Because you didn't ask."

He wanted to pry. Since when have I ever had to ask you to do that? He wanted to say but chose to keep quiet for once, seeing as there was another pressing matter he wanted to bring up.

"I heard you were talking to Rin-chan earlier." Shidou said in a taunting way, singing Rin's name sweet enough to make the raven indirectly shiver from where he was on the roof.

[y/n]  quirked an eyebrow. "How do you know that?"

"Just fuckin' tell me what you were talkin' about." He said gruffly, obviously joking with the smile that settled on his face.

"Uhh, I was just telling him about something that happened, and he politely yelled at me." The response was rather vague, unlike the other times where she'd go into depth about the conversation whenever he asked about it. Despite noticing it, he looked past it since it was probably nothing.

"Quit talking to that guy. He's annoying and way too fucking high and mighty to be left with you." Shidou warned.

"Thank you for that." She chuckled, waving it off half heartedly. Turning on her heels, she faced Shidou and folded her hands together behind her back. "I'm going home on my own today, so I won't be here when you finish practice."

"Huh?" The blond paused for a second. "The fuck? Why?"

"Busy, busy. You know how I am." She joked, rolling her eyes playfully. "Kidding. I have stuff to do at home with my mom, so I gotta go home right after school."

"Ahh, shitty."

"Yeah," she nodded softly, "I gotta go. See you later then." With a quick wave, she sauntered off in the opposite direction and quickly got out of his line of sight. When she was out of sight, she let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

Sorry, Ryusei but running away is the best I can for now until I get over you.
